Take personal opinions out of this. Just look at this issue as a PR/Marketing take. This reflects the true value of having a good PR team, paired with a good marketing/branding team at your side. Who in the heck let this rising political star, potential VP candidate, write -- and then brag -- about killing a puppy. I don't care why you did it or if it's considered normal on a farm. Your swing vote in swing states is in the suburbs. Would any PR pro look at writing about killing a puppy as a good platform? Who is she not paying to protect her from herself? Shut up, smile, say the right things, be folksy. Those are your talking points. Killing a puppy (and then a goat), probably not where I plant my flag. Pay a professional. Doesn't matter if you're running for office or selling coffee mugs. Never bring up killing puppies. It won't play the way you think it will play. PR people add value and protect you from yourself. Also, don't wear tight, complicated patterns on TV (not that she did this, but a lot of people still do), it crawls on today's HD, stick with a dark solid.
