National Mentoring Day is rapidly approaching! It was launched by Chelsey Baker, an award-winning business mentor, to help encourage and celebrate mentoring in all its forms to promote the benefits of mentoring. It is now celebrated worldwide to thank individuals who selflessly mentor across all walks of life and shine a spotlight on mentoring initiatives that are making a difference! What a week! we made it, it's.. FRIYAAAAY 😀 !!! The highlight of my week was facilitating my Peer Mentoring Circle on behalf of the Association of Business Mentors (ABM) Help to Grow: Management Course Mentors. This week we worked through effective and efficient ways of researching, setting and gauging critical success factors for a mentoring project along with sharing lots of experience and wisdom about how to get the best out of the project for all involved. I love these sessions, they enable us all to share and learn and support each other in growing and developing our businesses as well as our mentoring skills whilst maintaining the highest standards. If you're new to Peer-to-peer mentoring it is a process in which participants share their knowledge and expertise to help everyone grow and develop. Not only can this process help to improve the skills and knowledge of team members, but it can also foster a critical awareness of the key issues around mentoring and help to grow your mentoring network. Take time to build trust by getting to know your mentoring partner. Getting to know each other is not something you can check off your list in one conversation. Rather, it develops over a series of conversations early in your mentoring relationship. It’s tempting for people to skip right into what they think is the heart of the mentoring relationship: goal setting and goal achievement. Mentees want to feel like they are making the most of their mentors’ time. Mentors want to feel like they are adding value. Both mentor and mentee often feel like the trust will build organically over time. However, preparing the relationship is an essential first step in building trust—a necessary part of meaningful mentoring conversation. Making a meaningful connection with your mentoring partner is the most critical element in laying a strong foundation for a mentoring partnership. #MentoringTip #MentoringMoment #Trust
