Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Ferguson Partners & Author of "Living Beyond Your Dreams" | Inspiring Diverse Leaders | Proceeds Benefit The Ferguson CLE Foundation
Last week, Starbuck’s named its third CEO in less than 2.5 years. The company faced two high-profile activists, criticism from longtime CEO Howard Schultz, and slowing sales. The incumbent, Laxman Narasimhan, appointed CEO in March of 2023 had little experience in running, no less turning around, a global restaurant operation. The expectation was that Narasimhan would “mature” under Howard Schultz’s tutelage. In contrast, Brian Nicoll, Chipotle’s CEO, had turned around the company, was paid handsomely for it, and was experienced in running a global restaurant business. And to lure Nicoll to Starbuck’s, the Board named him Chairman and CEO, a smart decision that is often a requirement in recruiting a proven CEO. There is a message here. All companies seeking external leadership, especially in turnaround situations, need to hire proven CEOs. As I discussed in my last blog, time will tell on Boeing. #turnaroundceo #leadership #newceos

🏈 Business Success and Game Day: Lessons from the Eagles’ Gritty Win 🦅 Today, the Philadelphia Eagles held their ground and secured a hard-fought 20-16 win over the Cleveland Browns. It wasn’t about flashy plays but about resilience, discipline, and adapting to the game’s rhythm. Isn’t that exactly what it takes to thrive in business? Here’s what today’s game reminds us: 1. Adaptability is Key – Just like in business, where market conditions shift, the Eagles showed how important it is to adapt mid-game. Adjustments and smart plays after halftime helped them seize control, much like a well-executed pivot can lead to a successful business quarter. 2. Consistency Wins Battles – Both the Eagles and Browns had moments of brilliance, but consistency was the determining factor. Delivering consistently over time, much like in business, brings success. Those three 2nd-half points? Sometimes the steady grind pays off. 3. Endurance Matters – As the Browns pressed late in the game, the Eagles stood firm. In business, competition will always push you to your limits. Those who endure, plan, and maintain their focus, like the Eagles, will outlast the competition. Today’s Eagles game is a reminder that business isn’t always about big plays—it’s about how you execute the small, consistent actions that push you across the finish line. #BusinessLessons #Leadership #EaglesWin #Resilience #Adaptability #EnduranceInBusiness #GoBirds 🦅

The Biz Doctor, diagnosing and curing your team & business operations pain points so you reclaim your entrepreneurial freedom | Fractional COO | Podcast Host | Keynote Speaker
There is nothing that I love more than helping business owners get unburied and their sanity back, which is exactly what my client Josh shared we did for him. "Finally feeling confident and competent with how to scale my business!" Before we partnered with Lauren, we were really struggling with scaling the business and team dysfunction that pulled me back into the weeds. The biggest frustration we had was feeling like we didn't have a clear plan to get the business and team where we wanted them to be. The biggest ROI and ROTI is my sanity. I have clarity on how to move forward and can now see light a the end of the tunnel. Lauren gave me the competency I needed to have in order to take our business to the next level. Her advising on utilizing our team members in their best capacities has made our team function in a healthier way than we ever have had and our business has had record-breaking growth since. -Josh Herrington | CEO at 6th Gen Home Services in Austin, Texas #PublicSpeaker #WomenInBusiness #PodcastHost #FractionalCOO #BusinessOperations #BusinessOwner #Team #Leadership
