The perfect world - what is necessary

This is not a topic to be considered soft or sissy or irrelevant or “get the hell out of the navy”! The simple truth of the matter, from somebody who spent tours on warships, is this: sleep deprivation harms combat readiness. IF hot bunking at the lower ratings is still in effect, it could cause some additional risks of increased sleep deprivation. At the very minimum, it could harm the potential for experienced sailors to “ship over”. Do you know what that means in a time when recruitment and retention challenges are facing unprecedented failures?

I get the question sometimes: where do you store your food on a submarine for an extended deployment? It's easy - you put it in the passageway and walk on it.
