As a modern, technologically-advanced and engineered building material, #EIFS with Drainage are an #exterior cladding solution that offers a combination of #performance attributes, #energyefficiency, and #financialvalue that #oldfashioned, #heavyweight, and #laborintensive cladding materials just can’t match. In fact, these attributes are reasons why major entities and corporations depend on EIFS for important, high-profile projects that demand performance and value. (You can see for yourself here https://lnkd.in/ddjUwqxS.) Just as important, #designflexibility and #aestheticappeal are also reasons why EIFS are such compelling options. The article below, posted by Designboom (the 25 year old, go-to #architecture platform based in Milan, Italy) describes a thoughtful, custom home located in Virginia. The « Shenandoah House » arranges its living space along the pitted contours of its mountainous terrain. Designed as a 2,700 SF writers’ retreat connected to the local landscape, the layout blends contemporary architecture with the natural topography - offering incredible views. Inspired by the clients’ trip to Greece, SCHAUM SHIEH ARCHITECTS created a unique aesthetic that integrates the home’s smooth, white finish reminiscent of Greek seaside architecture with materials like EIFS. The result? A design and exterior finish that would be extremely difficult to do with #traditional materials - especially if one wants the benefits of #continuousinsulation at the same time. Of course, today’s EIFS with Drainage can also mimic #brick, #stone, #wood, #metal and #multiplematerials. Learn more at www.eima.com #design #insulation #performance #value #builtenvironment

While #EIFS with Drainage have long been used as #exteriorcladding solutions that demand #performance, #energyefficiency and #financialvalue in one package, there is another really important reason why #architects, #buildingowners and #designers depend on EIFS. And that reason is #aestheticappeal. To see what we mean, check out the post below from the EIFS Industry Members Association (EIMA). In addition to classic #stucco, today’s EIFS with Drainage can mimic #brick, #stone, #metal, #wood and #multiplematerials in an integrated solution that includes #continuousinsulation (ci) as part of the package. Why is this important? Because EIFS exteriors have the benefits of ci by themselves; there is no need to add extra #insulation in order to meet the requirements of the International Code Council’s International Energy Conservation Code if one uses EIFS. As a lightweight solution, EIFS offers a level of #designflexibility that #oldfashioned, #heavyweight claddings just can’t match. Learn more at www.eima.com

In Leiria, Região de Leiria, Portugal, Architecture firm Bureau des Mésarchitectures has recently completed an adaptive reuse project, converting a single family residence, into a 7 apartment building. The conversion created a juxtaposition between old and new, as a contemporary addition was added onto the existing traditional structure. The use of open floor plans, oversized windows and doors, and minamalist natural materials throughout the interior spaces, allowed a more creative approach to its design and implementation. The oversized strategically placed staggered windows allow for an abundance of natural sunlight to flow into the interior spaces. Exterior paneled shutters allow residents to filter sunlight to reduce solar gain at certain points of the day and times of year, they also provide an ever changing facade to the building. The design showcases the ability for artistic expression in architecture to be prevalent, while also focusing on ways to reduce the impact on the environment. In Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, an adaptive reuse project, takes what was two small side by side residences, and transforms them into a larger apartment block. The hope of the designers was to create a duality of the two buildings, making them symmetrical and upgrading the interior spaces to make them more adaptable to future needs. Connected by a central staircase, the building uses minimal energy and large windows allow for natural sunlight to filter in throughout the day, while operable doors and windows allow for the flow of fresh air throughout the spaces. The project is an example of adaptive reuse that can be adaptive and low energy which is something that is desperately needed. The Iconic cycloidal Residence: A Masterpiece of Modernist Aesthetics and Functional Design 🪂 🏡 🪨 🪵 Nestled amidst a dramatic canyon landscape, this six-story private mansion redefines the boundaries of contemporary residential architecture. Elevated gracefully above a flowing water stream, the structure's foundation integrates seamlessly with its natural surroundings, offering a poetic interplay between the built and the organic. ✨ The residence adopts a circular form, a deliberate design choice that enhances spatial efficiency and emphasizes continuity in both form and function. Each floor is meticulously segregated, allowing distinct zoning for private, communal, and recreational spaces while maintaining a cohesive vertical flow. The cylindrical geometry not only maximizes panoramic views of the surrounding canyons but also embodies a sense of harmony and infinity—a hallmark of modernist architectural philosophy. 🌀 A standout feature of this architectural marvel is its angular circular staircase, prominently located on the frontal façade. This staircase serves as both a functional and sculptural element, allowing seamless vertical circulation while adding an artistic dynamism to the exterior. The cantilevered steps and open risers amplify the feeling of lightness, creating a visual dialogue between structural engineering and aesthetic refinement. 📽️ The mansion’s façade design employs a strategic blend of glass, steel, and concrete, ensuring durability while embracing transparency and openness. The interplay of light and shadow across the curved surfaces adds a kinetic quality, making the residence appear ever-changing when viewed from different angles. 🎻 This innovative residence exemplifies the synthesis of modernism and contextual sensitivity, making it a true inspiration for architectural enthusiasts and students. By seamlessly integrating advanced engineering with timeless aesthetics, the mansion sets a benchmark for future-forward residential design, encouraging architects to dream boldly and design thoughtfully. 🎸 #Architecture #DesignInspiration #ArchitectsOfInstagram #ModernArchitecture #SustainableDesign #BuildingTheFuture #ArchitecturalInnovation #InteriorDesign #UrbanPlanning #ArchitectureLovers #ConstructionTechnology #ArchitecturalDesign #LandscapeArchitecture #CreativeDesign #SmartCities #Sustainability #DesignThinking #3DVisualization #Engineering #ArchitecturalDigest

How contemporary architecture can harmonize luxury with nature? 🌿🏠 This modern, minimalist two-story house embodies current design trends with its clean lines, geometric shapes, and extensive use of sustainable materials. The floor-to-ceiling windows not only flood the interior with natural light but also blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. In the 2020s, this seamless integration has become a hallmark of cutting-edge residential design. From my recent project, I’ve seen how employing natural materials like warm wood panels can make a home feel both sophisticated and inviting. The flat roof and strategic asymmetry add a sleek, dynamic edge while promoting energy efficiency. Statistics show that homes with significant natural light reduce energy consumption by 20%. This design isn’t just beautiful; it’s practical and sustainable, responding to our industry’s push towards eco-friendly solutions.
