It was heartening to see our employees speak passionately about their experiences and take pride in their achievements in the aviation industry. Our peers from other companies who visited our booth were equally impressed by our capabilities and the amazing products that are transforming lives. Day 1 of #WE24 has been so rewarding. If you notice the banners in the photo, on the left it says “career fair enter this way” and on the right is the tagline for this year’s conference, “together we rise.” One of the things that the Society of Women Engineers does very well is build a conference that tailors to #womeninstem at all points in their career. Whether you’re a student or a retired professional, there is something for you here. Two talks particularly stood out today: “Career Readiness in Aerospace”: While I touch many different platforms, what drew me to this talk was that it was made up of women from different defense companies. Jen Thomas’s transparency on her journey was everything I needed to hear for this particular moment in my career. “Empowering Latina Engineers: Strategies for Advancing to Executive Positons”: Something I’ve said time and time again is we sometimes don’t comprehend how inspiring representation is. To see an entire panel of women in defense that were made up of Directors, Sr. Directors and Fellows was everything-AND Latinas. And, in the midst of being poured into, I was able to talk to students about why I love to work at General Dynamics Mission Systems! The list is long. So, if you want to do work that is bigger than yourself, come visit us at the Career Fair! I mean it when I say we do everything-deep sea to deep space, any engineering discipline, multiple career development programs. What an exhilarating day it was at the Black Women in Science and Engineering (BWISE) Networking and Career Fair! First and foremost, a massive thank you to Erika Jefferson and the entire BWISE team for orchestrating such a dynamic and enriching event. It was truly an honor to participate as a speaker and share the stage with so many inspiring leaders and professionals. The engagement and insightful questions from the audience were absolutely invigorating!
