MODE Call for Proposals Abstracts due Monday, 30 September 2024 Hosted by the Anglo American University Prague, Czech Republic. 19-21 June 2025 https://lnkd.in/gZJh4zTq  The MODE Summit is a premier design education conference focused on motion design and related fields (i.e. film and television studies, web/interaction design, advertising, video gaming, augmented reality, virtual reality, and projection art. It serves as a vital meeting place for design educators and researchers, with the goal of amplifying motion design education.    Motion design is an ever changing field that encompasses every aspect of human and digital interaction. Momentum, defined as the quantity of motion an object possesses, aptly captures the essence of our conference theme. Where is motion design today, and where is it going? Momentum reflects our goal of propelling motion design education forward, as we bring together scholars and practitioners to exchange insights, foster innovation, and collectively drive the momentum of the discipline.

Through art, one can tap into an endless source of self-expression and boundless creativity. What do unit plan design and game design have in common? According to Dr. Jason Cox, Associate Professor of Art Education and Head of our Art Education program, the two are quite similar! Dr. Cox has put his creative talents to work by serving as the designer behind Five-Hundred-Year-Old Vampire, a new multi-player keepsake role-playing game. Players immerse themselves in the game by completing writing prompts from the perspective of their characters and by creating visual artifacts that help to document their experiences through the centuries. The game was designed with both recreational and classroom use in mind. Dr. Cox has noted that the game is worthwhile for students to engage with because it not only meets national common core writing standards and national core art standards, but also allows students to contextualize, challenge assumptions, and receive feedback from peers. Dr. Cox is a wonderful example of how our professors innovate to enhance student learning, thus modeling for our students how to do the same in their future careers. That's why at Hubo Studio, we believe in creating environments that not only educate but also inspire. We create spaces where children are transported into a world of wonder and imagination, where every corner holds the promise of discovery and adventure. One of our latest projects, the immersive library design inspired by the four elements – fire, water, earth, and air – embodies this vision. Fire ignites the passion for learning, with vibrant hues and dynamic shapes that stimulate curiosity and creativity. Water flows through the space, representing the fluidity of knowledge and the ever-changing nature of learning. Earth grounds us, providing a sense of stability and connection to the natural world, while air breathes life into the environment, fostering a sense of freedom and possibility. Stepping into our library, children are not just readers; they are explorers, adventurers, and dreamers. Every element of the design has been carefully crafted to engage the senses and spark the imagination, inviting young minds to embark on a journey of discovery. Asher Marcus, Lead Designer at Hubo Studio, said “A library is often a cathedral for books – a museum for stories, where silence is law and the librarian rules. "When we talk about the studio pathway we are talking about two core ideas and locations. The first is the external, physical learning environment where meaning making takes place, and the second is the internal development of the mind where thinking is nurtured. A studio pathway is something we can relate to quite tangibly, reimagining classrooms as actual studio environments intended for acts of creation. A studio is a culturally responsive setting for learners to make meaning, explore, reflect and evolve their intellect and inner selves. The studio pathway is a practice of invoking creative processes that can lead to personal growth and change. When we are in studio practice with others, we are able to advance useful skills for democracy: collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and connection. When we are in studio practice by ourselves, we are in direct relationship with the art form or medium, working with our inner power and growing into new ways of thinking." Counting down…. Sometimes, a more vibrant and dramatic lighting system is needed to really enhance an environment. With lighting playing an enormous part in people's behaviour, it was exciting to be asked to design and install a lighting system to suit the creative minds of the ESports students. Lighting was needed to suit both study and relaxing areas for students. Introducing different colour tones provided vibrant and stimulating spaces.
