Our five-year strategic plan, “Building For Our Future,” is out today! We partnered with Anavi Strategies to reflect on what’s going well and what we need to do to sustain and strengthen our 47-year-old organization as we move forward. The result is “Building For Our Future,” our strategic plan for 2024 to 2028. For the next five years, we will focus on strategies to: 📍 Deliver consistent high-quality client experiences 📍 Ensure sustainable organizational resources 📍 Build an equitable organizational culture in which staff thrive 📍 Enhance the organization’s cultural competency for underserved communities 📍 Embed racial equity across the organization The issue of intimate partner violence continues to take lives and devastate families, but as our Executive Director and President Joanna Otero Cruz points out in our strategic plan, we are building for a future free from abuse TOGETHER. Read the strategic plan and find out how you can be part of it: https://lnkd.in/gAJmJxDR Special thanks to The Sketch Effect for bringing our roadmap to life! #StrategicPlanning #DomesticViolence #roadmap #advocacy #community

UNTIL JUSTICE JUST IS- April 2024🩷 YWCA is on a mission to eliminate institutional and structural racism. We act every day by raising awareness about the impact of institutional and structural racism and by building community among those who work to advance racial justice.🧡 This year, our racial justice campaign, Until Justice Just Is (UJJI), centers around the theme Building Bridges to Equity, and it will be based on the topics for the 2024 YWCA Racial Justice Challenge, which will be: • Bodily Autonomy • Women’s Financial Empowerment/Caregiving • Gun Violence • Transportation This year’s campaign will take place throughout the entire month of April, with the YWCA Racial Justice Challenge, a critical component of the campaign, running April 1–29. Join us all month long as we highlight YWCA Local Association events and initiatives to inspire and engage our network of activists, advocates, and allies and advance racial justice — together.💖 Check out the YWCA USA website for more information about Until Justice Just Is here https://lnkd.in/eHbsW_JG Reach us comms@ywcaulstercounty.org or 845-338-6844 for more information. For Throwback Thursday, we are highlighting a visit with media personality and TV host, W. Kamau Bell, who also serves on our Back to the Start Advisory Board. This visit to our program occurred last summer before we were even on social media. Kamau explores often misunderstood communities and highlights the richness and diversity of experiences. He sat down with our cohort to discuss the challenges and importance of developing personal narratives as well as ways to collaborate in sharing their stories highlighting the cradle-to-prison pipeline. Through sharing narratives, we aim to foster understanding, ignite meaningful conversations, address barriers, and advocate for systemic change. #throwbackthursday #PublicHealth #ACEsaware #publichealthmatters #community #research #prevention #education #healthequity #awareness #incarceration #criminaljusticereform #criminaljustice #justice #secondchances #humanrights #SocialJustice #Equity #ProgressiveLeadership #Advocacy #Change

Empowering narratives shine a spotlight on issues of social justice, equity, and human rights, inspiring audiences to advocate for systemic change and meaningful progress. Through the voices of marginalized communities, these stories amplify the stories of those whose voices have been silenced or ignored, empowering audiences to confront injustice, challenge oppression, and work towards a more just and equitable society. By raising awareness of pressing social issues and inspiring collective action, empowering narratives drive positive change on a local, national, and global scale. #SocialJustice #Equity #HumanRights #Advocacy
