Today as we celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day, we reflect on the many contributions Indigenous people have made to Canada. As an organization and as individuals, we recognize and respect: - The diversity of Indigenous cultures and worldviews and their roles in Canada’s past, present, and future. - Our collective responsibility to share natural resources revenues and close gaps in socio-economic conditions between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. - Our role in the journey towards reconciliation by advancing Indigenous knowledge systems in all our work. - Our privilege to live, work, and play on Indigenous land.

🇨🇦🍁 Reflecting on Canada Day: Embracing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion 🍁🇨🇦 Canada Day is a time to celebrate the rich mosaic of cultures and peoples that make this nation unique. However, we must recognize that for many Indigenous communities, this day may hold a different significance. Turtle Island, the land we now call Canada, has been the ancestral home of Indigenous Peoples long before the concept of Canada even existed. While we celebrate the achievements and diversity of our country, let us also take a moment to reflect on the often-troubled history between the Canadian state and the original inhabitants of these lands. Many Indigenous Peoples have not fully aligned themselves with the Canadian identity, as the legacy of colonialism and the ongoing struggles for self-determination and reconciliation remain deeply felt. Some are not Canadians but are rights and treaty holders on this land that we are guests on. It is crucial that we honor and uplift the voices, stories, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples, not just on Canada Day, but every day. Their resilience, wisdom, and stewardship of the land are integral to the fabric of this nation, and their rightful place as the first peoples of Turtle Island must be recognized and celebrated. In this spirit, let us come together to acknowledge the complex and nuanced perspectives on this day, and strive to build a more inclusive, equitable, and just society that truly reflects the diversity and the deep-rooted history of this land and its peoples. Wishing everyone a reflective and inclusive Canada Day. 🇨🇦❤️ —- Artistic version of the national flag using native motifs and style. 🇨🇦 October: Latin American Heritage Month in Canada 🌎 In 2018, the Latin American Heritage Month Act legally named October "Latin American Heritage Month" in Canada, recognizing the significant contributions of the Latino immigrant community to Canada’s social, economic, and political scene. 🎊 This month, Canada planned many events to commemorate and celebrate the heritage Latino immigrants have built. These include ceremonies, parades, speeches, and many more. How does the Latino community mark Canada? 🔹 In 2021, over half a million people identified as Latin American in Canada. This community represents an important pillar of the country. 🔹 Many served in the First and Second World Wars, some even coming voluntarily to enlist in the Canadian military. 🔹 Since then, Latinos across the continent have brought their unique culture and adaptability to a new home, showcasing resilience and strength. 💡 Each year, Immigration & Mobility helps countless clients from Latin America immigrate to Canada. We are proud to help them achieve their dreams of moving to a country celebrating their efforts and heritage. Could you be next? 🎉 Celebrating 30 Years in the UK today! 🇬🇧🇫🇷 Looking back on my journey since arriving from France in November 1993, I have been fortunate to live in a mostly peaceful but changing world. From witnessing the emergence of emails, the internet and the rise of mobile phones to experiencing pivotal moments like the life and death of Princess Diana, the amazing London 2012 Olympics, the divisive Brexit vote, as well as the lockdowns during the Covid-19 pandemic, these three decades have been a testament to resilience and adaptation. London, with its vibrant multiculturalism, has been my anchor through these 3 decades. Despite obvious divisions and challenges resulting from Brexit as well as increased inequalities highlighted by the Covid-19 pandemic or the recent cost of living crisis, I've been fortunate to be able to embrace both British and French cultures, cherishing their diversity and opportunities. One of the greatest joys has been raising our two sons Sébastien & Oliver in the UK with my wife Sarah. We are immensely proud of them for being who they are, kind, happy, recently graduated and now employed. More recently, in the midst of ongoing conflicts in Europe and the Middle East, it is more than ever crucial to advocate for peace and understanding. As someone with dual nationalities, I strongly believe in the power of nations learning from each other to build bridges and foster global unity. The rich histories and diverse experiences of both the UK and France offer valuable insights into conflict resolution on a global scale. By embracing mutual respect, fostering collaboration, and prioritizing conflict resolution, we can pave the way for a world that celebrates differences rather than allowing them to lead to contention. Grateful for these 30 enriching years in the UK, I remain optimistic about our collective ability to strive for a more harmonious and interconnected world. #30YearsUK #Diversity #Unity #ConflictResolution #GlobalCollaboration #UKFranceRelations
