Here’s my take on it. Crowd management is essentially a customer service function and is about facilitating the best visitor experience possible in a given situation. This doesn’t mean just letting people do whatever they want, but the plan should be thoughtful and delivered in a positive way. It’s definitely a smiling gig. Managing density, creating equitable queuing systems and building rapport through effective communications all improve the visitor experience. Get these right and crowd safety naturally follows. It’s not a separate thing.
