All of our students that train with us, they each have different goals and dreams. For some of them learning basic hydraulics skills is to keep them safe while they work so that they can return home safely to their wife and kids. For some people it's because they want to stand out the next time higher level positions open up. For some people it's a change of career. For others it's a specialty area they have never learned about before. For others it's because they want to get off the tools and work more behind the scenes. And for others it so that they can lead their teams better with better knowledge. So, what's the next step for you in your career? And what training can help you get there? Remember there are heaps of cross-skilling and up-skilling opportunities with the training available at APT, and we want to help you find the training that's right for you. #HydraulicSystems #fluidpower #programs #shortcourses #AdvanceDiploma #training

Closing the #skills gap will take more promotion of #aviationcareers by the industry. This "shop" teacher, Allan Sharrock bemoans the shortage of quality shop teachers and says it led to #skillsgaps in important areas. "I use the term “shop” because we need old-school, wrench-turning, woodworking and welding classes back in our schools. These programs have been phased out. The missing component we need is technically skilled middle and high school #teachers who can introduce #machining, #welding, #electricity and #woodworking to students before they pick a #careerpath at the VOTEC. You can’t get kids excited about something they haven’t tried out" Thankfully, they are coming back in as #careerandtechnicaleducation pivots to meet industry needs by offering not only the classes he cites but high school classes for #aviationmaintenancetechnicians who are in high demand. Community colleges are also stepping up. They can make $65k out of the gate and within five years can be making $120k, according to the Aviation Technician Education Council Pipeline report. But we need more to turn to this challenging career choice since the demand is not filling all the seats needed. #ATEC also identified the shortage of aviation maintenance instructors. Choose Aerospace, Inc and AOPA HIgh School #STEM curriculum are big factors in attracting kids. In fact Choose Aerospace just opened its scholarship applications. Equally important is introducing kids to #manufacturing skills since there is a huge shortage at #aviation and #aerospace manufacturers. The next big initiative must extend the exposure to these careers from K-Career because kids begin exploring #careers in pre-school, according to #guidancecounselors. https://lnkd.in/ecEAAcdn IndustryWeek
