The end of F1 testing can only mean 3 things:
- hearing the Dutch national anthem on a Sunday will return
- a new series of Drive to Survive is released (see trailer below)
- F1 journalists start to predict the pecking order for the upcoming season
It looks like Red Bull and Max Verstappen will once again lead the field ahead of Ferrari, McLaren and Mercedes with Haas and Sauber still languishing in 9th and 10th.
During the Sky F1 broadcast it was suggested that the budget cap and wind tunnel handicapping should have enabled teams at the back with less money to compete. However, F1 is so much more than just money and wind tunnel time.
The huge variable that is undervalued in the brief analysis above, and across society, and that isn’t covered in this regulation, is people. Engineers and drivers. Adrian Newey and Max Verstappen are both still at Red Bull along with their team of amazing teams - this should be factored into why they maintain their competitiveness. They are able to extract more from their wind tunnel time because they better understand the requirements of building a faster car.
The NFL, NBA and MLB seem to understand the power of people in levelling up the league through the draft system where they recognise the importance of “spreading the wealth” of talent to make the league more competitive. I can’t see this ever happening in F1, like it doesn’t happen in European football, but if you want to really give the teams at the back of the field to compete, is there really any other option?
Just because you throw money at something, doesn’t guarantee you success. Away from F1, Chelsea and Man United can vouch for this who both must look enviably at the likes of Aston Villa, Brentford and Brighton who despite having much smaller budgets, can still compete.
I’m not saying a big budget doesn’t make a difference, but couple it with the right people and then you’re onto a winner - reference, Manchester City Football Club#f1#sportsbusiness
If you're also facing the moral dilemma that accompanies crushing on Sauron (from the series, not the films - give us some credit), then allow us to make one decision all the easier for you.
Here's a car that has it all:
As agile as an elf.
As powerful as a dwarf.
As companionable as a harfoot.
And as reliable as a white wizard.
But that's where the Lord of the Rings likeness ends.
As this offer is very real.
No battles, betrayals or illusions will befall you in your quest for new wheels. Just a great new car for a great price, with the service to match.

#F1Academy 💜 Liquid Death
Ladies and gentlemen, this is a partnership I want to see.
''Drives Your Thirst'' 💦
We know that drivers lose a lot of water through sweat, which is why every driver has their own drink system.
Picture this,
👀
Bottas sees someone pouring Liquid Death into the drink system of the F1 Academy cars. So he pretends to be Carrie Schreiner and steals her car because he wants to drink Liquid Death.
🏎
And as he drives away, we see a dramatic slow motion scene where his mullet is flying out of his helmet and sparks ✨ are flying around (because he is too heavy for the car and the car is rubbing the ground 😅 ), accompanied by an opera cover of ''One Way or Another'' song.
----
🤔 You may ask, "If this is an F1 Academy video, why is Bottas in this?"
* I would like to see his support for the F1 Academy.
* He was a teammate with Susie Wolff.
* Bottas has a huge fan base. We can use his fan base to make F1 Academy more heard.
* He is very funny.
* I remember reading an interview of him about a synthetic fuel solution made from air and WATER for F1 cars.
----
Wouldn't it be great to see more brand logos on F1 Academy cars?
We absolutely love hearing more sponsor news and seeing more brand support for the F1 Academy.
----
👋 Can you reconcile the meaning of DRS with water?
😅 Do.Right.Sip.

What do you get when you give HUGE F1 and leading trade mark attorney Abigail Wise, the opportunity to write an article on trade marks in motorsport? An epic read that has IP as the heart, but sheds so much light on the business of F1, it's an interesting read for any fan.
(Abbie worked with other IP lawyers at Lewis Silkin, Nick Buckland and Ella Nawaro to write this for LawInSport so, for those who aren't members, I'm afraid it's behind a paywall...)

The New Porsche 911 (992.2) - You Can't Order It Yet ... (review)
“The Porsche 911 is speedier and grippier than before, but also even better balanced and neater in its handling” according to this review from TopGear.
It sounds like Porsche is still putting finishing touches to facelift 992.2 model, which we should see soon in 2024. https://lnkd.in/eP2n6AKz#Porsche911#2024goals
🏎️ F1 INSIGHT 🏎️
This is how hot different components of an F1 car get during a race, and now I understand why they have massive airflow machines to slot into the car when it comes into the pits. 🤯
An F1 driver can lose up to 2kg in a full GP, obviously because of the physicality, but the heat trapped inside the cockpit plays a huge factor in that as well.
Places like Singapore, Malaysia (back in the day) and even the Middle East, where the air temperature is already incredibly hot, must be absolute hell for the drivers.
Talk about an extreme sport 🏎️🤯
Imagine you're a part of an F1 team.
If you call the car in at the end of every lap to review its performance, will the car ever cross the finish line?
Spend less time discussing work and more time doing the actual work. Conduct reviews when you have enough data, not at the end of every lap.
