To all my emergency management friends who are registered for this year's IAEM Conference in San Diego: For a variety of reasons, I will not be able to join you in November, however, the folks at IAEM are giving me a chance to do a videoconference of my presentation "Preparing for Grid Fragility - An Emergency Management Summit and Initiative" tomorrow at noon (Central Time). If you are currently registered for the conference you will be able to join this video event live. It will also be recorded and available for viewing at a later date. This presentation is different from the ones that many of you have seen in the past. This one discusses the process that my planning team and I went through in developing Houston-Galveston Area Council of Government's very successful "Preparing for Electric Grid Fragility" summit. The success of that gathering gave rise to an initiative which we are now implementing aimed at assisting jurisdictional emergency managers from around region with assessing their vulnerability to, and enhance their preparedness for, a long-duration, widespread power outage. I truly appreciate IAEM's allowing me the opportunity to do this presentation-in-abstentia. Hope to "see" you online. BTW: y'all have a great experience in San Diego. Wish I could be there with you.
