Do police officers need training in the use of edged weapons (i.e. pocket knives)? Nearly all officers carry some type of knife. If an agency does not provide edged weapon training to officers, are they liable on ground of Deliberate Indifference? “Custom, pattern, or practice demonstrates an obvious need for training that policy makers should have reasonably understood” is key concerning inadequacy of training.
