WORKERS OPPORTUNITY TAX CREDIT --> Isn't my CPA already taking care of this? Many companies think their CPA or payroll company are already taking care of this for them. Each month we work with over a thousand new companies, from our experience the vast majority of companies are either not taking these types of tax incentives at all, or they are taking only small fractions of what is available. If you are not completing a form 8850 with each and every new person you consider for employment, you are not taking advantage of this Tax Credit. This process is more operational then it is accounting based. Because most CPA's and even payroll companies are not involved in your interviewing and candidate process it's rare that this is being taken advantage of. Following an intense two-year period of heightened hiring activity, 2023 witnessed a return to a more stabilised market. Hiring US tax professionals in the UK can be challenging, but it's not an impossible task. If you're struggling to find the right candidate, here are some tips to improve your success rate. Firstly, focus on improving your offer. Offering higher salaries, flexible working hours, and more holidays are just some of the ways you can make your job offer more appealing. Additionally, consider tailoring the position to the individual who is joining by finding out their professional and personal interests. Next, make your interview process unique. Stand out from other firms by offering something that others can't. For example, if you're a small firm, offer more client contact from an early stage. If you're a large firm, offer rotation between tax teams. To attract a wider pool of potential employees, increase the flexibility of working hours and location. Don't limit yourself to local candidates; consider candidates from other areas of US tax who are interested in changing specialisms. Lastly, keep your interview process short and focus on finding the right skill set, not just mapping the market.
