Sometimes we get caught up in the race to prove ourselves, to show that we are the best. But what if we took a cue from the cheetah? In a recent race between dogs and a cheetah, the cheetah didn't even budge from its place. When asked why, the race coordinator replied, "Sometimes trying to prove that you are the best is an insult. We do not need to go down to the level of others, to show our strength. The cheetah uses its speed only to hunt, not to prove to the dogs that it is the fastest and strongest." A clear focus, one step ahead, the ability to trust, collaborate and be empathetic with another were the 5 core reasons my time in the NHS showed me the NHS needed learning experiences with horses. It turned out that Equine Guided Leadership Development was already a thing, and I was introduced to Dave Harris. Now, some 15 years after that initial introduction, I'm more sold on horses teaching us leadership skills than ever! My herd are still teaching me on a daily basis, and I feel like I have only just scratched the surface of what they have to offer. It's for this reason we've teamed up with local organisational development experts Passe-Partout Consulting Ltd to host a Human-Centred #leadership morning. It's a taster into what #horses have to share with you about leadership, so you can be more effective in the workplace and at home. Knowledge is power, but experience is even more valuable, and that is what you will get. In the morning you'll get to meet our herd of 3 New Forest ponies and put your leadership skills to the test, receiving direct and honest feedback. It means you'll get to meet horses like Jim, our expert leadership trainer. His teaching style is friendly and to reward good skills. He has no agenda outside his and the herd's safety.
