🙌 Many thanks to Porticus and WYNG for organizing an enlightening workshop featuring the esteemed Professor Johan Rockstrom. As someone who has followed his groundbreaking work, I was thrilled to engage in thought-provoking discussions. 🚀 My Key Takeaways: 1. Ocean Resilience: The workshop highlighted a concerning trend—the ocean’s diminishing capacity to absorb heat and carbon since 2023. This unprecedented phenomenon isn’t adequately factored into current climate forecasts #OceanResilience. 🌊🔥 2. Integration Matters: Let’s break down silos! Climate mitigation and adaptation should not be treated as separate entities. Instead, they must intertwine seamlessly. 🌍🤝 🌎Urgent Call to Action: The stakes are high, and we can’t afford complacency. It’s time for bold climate actions—from individuals, organizations, and policymakers alike.

🌍 **Climate Action and Imagined Futures: A Scenario-Based Dialogue** 🌍 **Matthew Finch, Malka Older, and David Robertson** In an innovative and thought-provoking dialogue, the authors explore the question: "How might future scenarios nourish our thinking about climate action?" Using the Horizon Europe funded IMAJINE programme's scenario for European regional inequality in 2048 as a lens, each author brings their unique disciplinary and professional perspective to the conversation. Key discussion points include: 1. **Understanding Climate Change**: Examining how each scenario frames our comprehension of climate change. 2. **Risk and Responsibility**: Addressing present and future considerations of risk and accountability. 3. **Creative Thinking**: Utilizing scenarios to highlight current blind spots and inspire innovative solutions. 4. **Sustainable Good Life**: Reevaluating our concepts of sustainability and identifying overlooked vulnerabilities. In the second part, the authors engage in a reflective exchange, critiquing each other's viewpoints, exemplifying the "art of strategic conversation." This polyphonic dialogue underscores the value of scenarios in fostering open spaces for mutual uncertainty, exploration, and innovation. **Conclusion**: Scenarios and structured dialogues like this can enrich our understanding and approaches to climate action, supporting an ongoing process of collective inquiry and creativity. 🌱📚🔍 #ClimateAction #FutureScenarios #Sustainability #InnovativeThinking #StrategicDialogue

This is how #climateadaptation becomes successful: Today at 11 a.m., the Cluster of Excellence for Climate Research CLICCS at the Universität Hamburg published the new study "Hamburg Climate Futures Outlook 2024". #Climatechange is forcing people to adapt to changing environmental conditions. The #report shows what really makes the difference is how they do it and that, in the long run, only sustainable adaptation can succeed. The study also shows that the combination of climate change and natural climate variability is already severely affecting ecosystems as well as economy and poses greater risks for the future. The conclusion of this year's report: Successful climate adaptation must be thought of in the long term, developed with the local population and aligned with #sustainability goals. At the same time, efforts must be increased to reduce climate-damaging emissions.
