It's easy to be thankful when the people around me are so kind and generous. Thanks to everyone for the re-posts, comments, and messages about my recent layoff. One of the suggestions I shared in my EDUCAUSE panel last month about career change (how prescient that turned out to be!) was to be explicit in asking for help, because great people all around want to be helpful but sometimes aren't sure what they can do. So, I'd love your help in these ways: - Let's meet! Whether we know each other personally yet or not, so many great things come from having conversations together. My schedule is mostly open the next two weeks, so send an invitation to my email (brianbaute at gmail) or use my Calendly. https://lnkd.in/grtcVnTR - Make an introduction! You have an amazing network, and those people have amazing networks. Know someone who works in SaaS sales, EdTech, or consulting? Someone who works in higher ed? Someone who's just a really interesting person? Fantastic. Please connect me with them, and we'll take it from there. - Share about openings you see! Know a technology company that's looking for a new sales leader/top performer? Know a firm that's looking for a consultant with deep expertise? Know an organization that could benefit from my mix of skills and experience? Please send it my way. - Ask me for help too! My schedule is uncharacteristically flexible for the next little while, and I'd love to give back however I can. Last week I had a video meeting with a new friend through a former colleague and was able to provide my perspective on careers in higher education for them, and I met with a former student and was able to help them think through their next career step; I loved both of those conversations and would love to have more like it. Here's to being thankful and enjoying time with the people we love this week. Happy Thanksgiving!
Jennifer Hull thank you for the connection! It was great chatting last week, Brian!
