Six policy recommendations re: the future of public health from ICF's John Auerbach, Alice Chen, Bisola Ojikutu, and Denise Octavia Smith: 1) establish state and local community councils to formalize the roles of community-based organizations in public health decision making 2) dedicate funding to these organizations 3) offer funding that is not limited to a specific disease or condition 4) simplify procurement and reporting processes directed to community-based organizations 5) create a training and technical assistance program for these organizations and 6) increase public health worker diversity, including sustainable funding for community health workers. #healthpolicy #publichealth

Health Affairs just published its issue on the future of public health. It has an article on the importance of building solid and trusting partnerships between historically marginalized community groups and members and the public health sector - maybe the most important lesson from the COVID pandemic.
