Client Win Wed: The skills to LAND a good job != the skills to DO a good job.
After applying to all sorts of tech companies with barely a 1% callback rate, a client came to me asking for a targeted rewrite of their resume.
We had a 1 hour working session and refactored the format to the version that's helped over 50 people land jobs in the past 18 months.
Not only did they 4x their callback rate from recruiters, but they only targeted top tier companies 🤯
If you have 3+ yoe and your callback rate is less than 5%, then DM or book an intro chat using the link in my profile so we can end your application suffering.

I’ve seen hundreds of resumes that I know recruiters would quickly pass on 😔
And I’ve posted example resumes that have gotten 25-year-olds jobs making $133k/year.
But it’s been a long time since I’ve broken down the specific parts of a great resume.
Here are the top 5 most important sections of a killer resume:
🟡 Professional summary / personal statement
You have about 7 seconds to grab a recruiter’s attention. This is where you do it. I really like this at the top because it tells me who a person is and what they’ve accomplished in 3 lines or less. If you're not sure how to summarize your experience, use Teal’s AI Resume Builder to write the first draft.
🟠 Work experience / history
List your work experience in reverse chronological order. Remember to list only the most relevant and impactful work and don’t waste time listing EVERY job or task you’ve ever done. Also make sure to keep the same formatting across all dates.
🟢 Results / quantifiable metrics
Back in 2016 when I was applying for a job at Facebook, I had to add all of these manually. And it took months and months of editing and revision.
Make sure to add in numbers and/or percentages. And ask yourself: "How did this affect the business? How is this relevant to the role I'm applying to?" If not relevant, delete it!
🔵 Technical / hard skills
Use this section to stand out. Add in programming languages, project management software, data skills, etc. You can even include different languages that you speak in this section. But please don’t include Microsoft Office as a technical skill.
🔴 Education
Keep this one simple. Put this at the top if you’re a new grad; put it near the bottom if you’re an experienced candidate.
What other advice would you add for someone revamping their resume?

As our system looks at further assisting our sector with competency and currency evidence using AI based review against units of competency, including the ability to help RTOs conduct RPL, I love to see well created evidence like the CV. Remember documents like CVs and Resumes, or professional portfolios can be used for a variety of reasons. Write them to the reason, then have customised copies for other reasons.
When a CV is used in our system it is looking for linkages with units you want to show you have experience in industry, so make sure you highlight the key functions of your position. Other evidence can include Job descriptions, supervisors references, third party reports of competency.
Same goes for RPL processes, old units obtained and evidence of application and transference of skills and knowledge to a new version of the unit.
