Brickhouse had an amazing time sponsoring ATP - Atlanta Technology Professionals 20th Annual Golf Tournament last Thursday. When we said rain or shine, we meant it......and even added a tornado warning in there for fun! Despite the weather, spirits were high as you can see and we're so thankful to everyone who participated, volunteered, sponsored, or supported in order to make this event great. See you next year!

This week on Leading Edge WTOL 11Lance Woodworth - President and CEO | Destination Toledo
What's Toledo's brand?
What do you sell to people, to businesses, or to conventions - what is the pitch these days? Is the product better than ever? Following a night where Toledo’s Mayor talked about fair and unfair perceptions about Toledo - how does that translate into proactivity or apathy? Toledo’s always wanted to be more - and there are those who are trying to make it happen - but it seems like there are those who want to keep it right where it is or where it’s been.
Is perception reality?

Terry Crosby - Taylor Automotive Family Community Outreach
This night will be about philanthropy – and the good work that they’re doing as community ambassadors for the Taylor Automotive Family. We hear all the time about the need for local organizations - that have the ability – to pick up the ball and get it across the goal line – and you guys are truly doing that. What one story has touched them – where they have really understood that the work they’re doing IN the community and WITH the community is making a difference. There have been so many organizations that needed help to make their charity, and their love for others go – HOW does this team show them their worth?

Helping social impact organisations to improve, evolve and thrive | On Purpose Fellow | Gets stuff done!
Presenting to AFC Wimbledon’s men’s first team and staff about Dons Local Action Group’s work in the community and how they can get involved, felt like it might be a tough gig - but boy was I wrong! Everyone was really welcoming and engaged, and keen to continue the amazing work of this community club ⭐️
Players and staff members approached me about getting involved with volunteering and with suggestions for others ways they can support DLAG and raise awareness. I can’t wait to see the impact they will have this season - on and off the pitch ⚽️
During the afternoon, I also got to hear about the great work of other organisations connected to the club such as AFC Wimbledon Foundation, Women of Wimbledon Supporters Association and Wimbledon in Sporting History.
It was a joy to speak about the charity I love with people from the club I love. Thank you for having me along 💛💙
We completed the list!! 🎉🎉
While we haven’t finished contacting all the businesses, I worked with Green Team and with Fernando Rodriguez to accumulate local businesses! Our newest Green Team member, Jonah, along with our second newest, Victoria, learned professionalism over a phone call! They got the hang of it super quickly and I am very proud of them. They both took the task off my hands and showed great initiative, allowing me to fulfill other tasks.
Our other Green Team members, Logan and Tyler, also did amazing! They completed the whole table. While Victoria and Jonah were contacting businesses, Tyler and Logan researched businesses, jotted down websites and phone numbers, and helped to better organize the list!!
While I thought this was a task I could handle on my own, I realized today that I was very wrong. I don’t usually procrastinate, however between school and work, I usually don’t have a lot of time so I tend to choose one or the other when home so when I had the opportunity to show the others this kind of work, I jumped right at the idea!! We ended up getting so much more done than I thought we would, which was my first mistake. Believing in your team makes the all the difference, especially when tasks can be properly delegated. Everyone learned something new today, including me, and including Fernando Rodriguez, who learned how to use a laminator!
Overall, I feel pretty good about today. It was a very productive and accomplished experience!!
Green Team Leader | Landscape Design & Sustainable Agriculture
I started a new project recently. Green Team compiled a list of different businesses, local and corporate, between New Bedford and Fairhaven.
My task specifically is to contact each and every one of these businesses to inquire about possible sponsorships or in-kind donations for Groundwork Southcoast’s fundraiser, Harvest Bash!
I have spoked about #HarvestBash in the past, it’s being held at 90 Hatch Street, on Thursday, November 7th. More information can be found on our Facebook and Instagram. We’re in the home stretch!!
If anyone has any information or interest in sponsoring us for this event, please reach out to either me via LinkedIn, at aborden@groundworksouthcoast.org, or reach out to our Communications Manager, Gianna Sollitto at gsollitto@groundworksouthcoast.com!
Also, if you are looking for a job, or know youth 14+ who are interested in starting their career path, refer to the Groundwork Southcoast Facebook, Instagram or even LinkedIn! We have a variety of jobs as well as flexibility within the organization! We are always looking to grow and expand, especially now with the upcoming addition to Green Corps!
Once again, please reach out for any interest in anything spoke above!! We would greatly appreciate it, and are so grateful for everyone in our community, team and family!!
Good evening friends and family!
Helping my community has become the central focus of my purpose. I returned home from living away for 20+ years after climbing that proverbial latter our naataani instructed us to climb. Since my return I simply began by helping my folks, then an old college friend presented an opportunity to serve my people. That quickly changed into an enormous effort when the pandemic arrived. I’ve been blessed and fortunate in so many ways, but the greatest gift has been to be here at home to be of service for shi Ké. I helped deliver over $50+ million dollars in grant funding to Navajo Small Businesses and Artists during the height of the pandemic. I was endowed with two brand new communities who I got to know, respect, and love; business owners and artisans.
I now get to mix both universes of my past professions in my new multiverse that is NTU, education and public administration. Education is our solution to poverty, violence, substance abuse, and the many challenges our communities face. So I will give my best to help provide the best for our students at all levels.
I took the reins of our student business club, NTU American Indigenous Business Leaders mid fall. Since then we’ve organized and coordinated efforts to attend the National Conference as well as Reservation Economic Summit during our Spring Break. NTU AIBL has won the Chapter of the Year for 3 years in a row. It’s imperative to return as we represent the Navajo Nation and Crownpoint.
I am contributing $3,500 from my budget and since mid October we’ve raised over $4,300 but still need more. Our goal is $15k and to get there I look to my communities and community members for support by making contributions through in-kind donations, participating in our auction, and sharing the information about our initiatives to others. So if you are an artist or small business and would like to contribute please let me know. I will be at the Gallup Flea Market this weekend selling as well as asking for support from my ké.
On behalf of my students and all Skyhawk ambassadors thank you in advance for your support!
Doug

Until then, here is a tip:
When transitioning from a large home to a smaller space, there is often a great deal of bulky in-between-era furniture left behind. What can we do with it?
Solution! Post individual pieces for free on OfferUp or Facebook Marketplace. In the ad, make sure to include the following:
1) plenty of careful, loving photos taken in the sunshine from multiple angles (including insides of drawers)
2) the item's dimensions
3) your intersection and suburb/town name
4) the phrase "pick up only" in the ad

#FromTheArchives: Did you know that Grandview Kids has had a mascot since the 1960s? Though not as commonly seen today, with the exception of our logo, the character was used quite regularly for various community events and fundraisers in the 1960s-1980s.
Can you guess what the name of the Grandview Kids Mascot is? Be sure to leave your guesses in the comments below! We will reveal the correct answer in the next week!
I promise I'll post about my actual job (we have a new video to share about Mainframe mod and GenAI!) but as summer winds to a close I wanted to share a charity opportunity related to Golf:
https://lnkd.in/g2i6mqfG
Ultimately this is about helping kids lead healthier lives and is related to the amazing work that Jack and Barbara Nicklaus have done across the world to help kids heal and thrive with their Play Yellow initiative.
My Wife Ashley and her colleague Kelli are going to play 72 holes of golf in one day and they are going to make it rain birdies. If you have a bit of a gambling mindset, you can make a donation based on the number of birdies they're going to make. You can also make an up-front donation. Note that this is focused on Colorado - ask your local pro if something is happening near you!
Why is this on LinkedIn? Two reasons - first - this is really the only social media I do. I do so little I don't know if this actually counts as social media.
Second - having married a professional golfer I've learned a lot about golf that has surprised me. Watching Ashley and her friends and colleagues navigate a male-dominated world (5% of PGA professionals are women. 5%!) is in many ways a clearer lens to the same challenges we see in technology. The backlash we've seen in some pockets of the world against fostering inclusion - one person's opinion here - ignores the reality that a diversity of thought and opinion makes teams better. Here's a golf example - when you're taking a golf lesson, you are incredibly vulnerable and it can be intimidating - no single approach works for everyone. Finding a coach that resonates with you (and this can be especially hard for women coming to the game, or children wanting to learn) is critical to your experience. There is not a long line to draw between this phenomenon and what we see in technology as leaders, mentors and peers.
Also, golf is fundamentally a game of integrity - I've seen remarkable examples of leadership and integrity on the course (look up "Sahith Theegala penalty" for an unbelievable example recently) and again it reminds me of all the things we try to do as leaders and professionals in business. I've always liked the phrase "integrity is what happens when no one is looking" and if golf can help me and others to model that, there's more to the game than I thought.
Let me close by saying - for those in the Northern Hemisphere - enjoy the last gasps of summer, whatever brings you outside to do so!
On Tuesday, September 24th, I will be participating in the inaugural Colorado PGA Birdie Bash fundraiser event to raise funds for PGA REACH Colorado and Children's Hospital Colorado. I, alongside other Colorado PGA Professionals, will play 72 holes of golf in one day at The Ranch Country Club in an attempt to make as many birdies as possible! Please consider making a pledge per birdie to support these impactful organizations. YOUR GIFT MATTERS and will help us reach our goal of raising $110,000! To make a pledge, please visit: https://lnkd.in/gWWgpdNi
