Today, on World Social Work Day, I want to honour the remarkable resilience of social workers, particularly those dedicated to children and families. As a C&F social worker, I've seen firsthand the uphill battles we face, from navigating complex family dynamics to ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable children. Amidst these challenges, there's an often-overlooked struggle: the difficulty of switching off from work mode and compartmentalizing to care for our own families. Balancing the demands of our profession with our personal lives is no easy feat. We carry the weight of our clients' stories and struggles, often finding it hard to leave them at the office door. Yet, when we return home, we must summon the strength to be present for our own loved ones, to provide them with the care and attention they deserve. It's a delicate balancing act that requires immense resilience and self-awareness. We must learn to set boundaries, to prioritize self-care, and to seek support when needed. And while the journey may be challenging, it's also incredibly rewarding. Today, as we celebrate the vital work of social workers around the world, let's also acknowledge the sacrifices made behind the scenes. Let's recognize the importance of self-care and the need to nurture our own well-being, so that we can continue to serve others with compassion and empathy. To my fellow social workers, I salute your dedication and resilience. And to those who support us on this journey, thank you for standing by our side. Together, let's continue to advocate for change, support one another, and strive for a more compassionate and equitable world. Happy World Social Work Day! 🌍💙 #WorldSocialWorkDay #Resilience #SelfCare #socialworkmonth

Day 27: Happy Social Work Month! There is often this misconception that social workers only help poor marginalized populations. Social work is a multifaceted profession that encompasses much more than assisting economically disadvantaged or marginalized populations, although that is a crucial aspect of the work. The reality is that social workers engage with individuals, families, and communities across a vast range of socioeconomic statuses, ages, and circumstances. * Affluent individuals (net worth less than $1 million but more than $100,000) * High-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) (net worth: $1 million to $5 million) * Very-high-net-worth individuals (VHNWIs) (net worth: $5 million – $30 million) * Ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs) (net worth: $30 million or more) * Billionaires (net worth $1 billion or more) (ceo world biz) These types of clients might encounter social workers in various settings and situations, reflecting the adaptability of social work practice. Here’s how and when these encounters might occur: Social workers may assist these individuals with various non-financial issues, such as family dynamics, mental health concerns, substance use, and navigating life transitions. They might offer counseling, mediation, and planning services that focus on psychological and social well-being. ▶️ Healthcare ▶️ Education ▶️ Wealth Management and Planning ▶️ Corporate and Employee Assistance ▶️ Mental Health and Counseling ▶️ Policy and Advocacy ▶️ Cancer Care ▶️Chronic illness ▶️ Sports ▶️ Corporate Executives and Professionals: ▶️ Athletes ▶️ Elderly Individuals Not Facing Economic Hardship: The versatility and adaptability of social work means that professionals in this field are equipped to meet a wide array of needs, providing support that is as varied as the individuals and communities they serve. By challenging and expanding the traditional perception of social work, we can better appreciate the profession’s integral role in helping individuals across all walks of life. #empoweringsocialworkers #socialworkmonth #socialwork #socialworkers #msw #lmsw #capsw #swloudandproud #clinicalsocialworker #EAP #BSW

I was sooo frustrated with hearing from the bitter, broke, and burn-out social worker so I created #thesocialworkmovement. I am a Social Impact Speaker & Strategist who is on a mission to change the global narrative of the social work profession for social workers to be valued, respected, and well-compensated. Social Workers are sooo much more than child welfare workers and we are no longer being martyrs for the sake of “wanting to help” and being a female-dominated industry.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Social Workers are CEOs, project managers, corporate consultants, therapists, case managers, business owners and pretty much we work in every industry where individuals and corporations desire solutions to their pressing challenges or desires.🤩 It is beyond time for the voices of Social Workers who are like me, who love the profession, who make and make a difference, and who boldly and unapologetically maximize and monetize their education, expertise, and experiences to be heard. Out with the bitter, broke, and burn-out narrative of the social work profession.🙅🏽♀️ I am #empoweringsocialworkers to get clear on their next steps and execute so they can have even more social impact, money, and time for self-care, family, philanthropy, and travel!🎊🙌🏾 I went from social assistance recipient to six-figure social work entrepreneur even as a Mom who is Single; I know 💯 you can transform your life too!✨🧘🏾♀️ Subscribe to get notifications about #thesocialworkmovement docuseries: https://lnkd.in/evae3Kps I am asking you to support me in changing the global narrative of the social work profession through #thesocialworkmovement as part of Social Impact Sundays at 6 and here are 5 ways to get involved: https://lnkd.in/e6zWbkrv #socialwork #socialworker #socialworkers #therapist #socialimpact #talkshow #talkshowhost #NASW

For many “the workforce” is the main focus for change in social care. The idea being that improvements in pay, conditions, professional status and value for people working in existing service roles are key to “improvement”. But thinking about and representation of “work” in social care is often as regressive as the broader story of what social care should be for and do. Without changing this - & in particular without putting what is important to people who draw on social care & their ideas of what “work” “works”at the forefront- “workforce” campaigns won’t be a useful contributor to the changes that are needed. It doesn’t have to be like this - Bryony’s blog should help us all think carefully about this 👇

🌍 Today, on World Social Work Day 2024, I want to take a moment to reflect on my personal and professional journey within the social care sector and to share the story behind my decision to establish a cleaning business that works alongside social workers to support individuals in improving their lives through living in clean and safe homes. 🤝 Having witnessed the transformative impact of social workers in my previous roles, I recognised the importance of creating a holistic approach to support vulnerable individuals in our society. I understood that a clean, comfortable and safe home environment plays a significant role in a person's overall well-being and sense of dignity. With this in mind, I embarked on a mission to establish a cleaning business that aimed to provide compassionate and non-judgemental practical support to individuals who are working with social workers to overcome various challenges and improve their quality of life. 🏠 Collaborating with social workers, I have the privilege of working directly with individuals and families who may be facing physical limitations, poor mental health, inadequate housing or other circumstances that hinder their ability to maintain a clean and safe home. By offering professional cleaning and biohazard services, I aim to alleviate the often overwhelming burden of knowing where to start in the process of creating a safe, more comfortable space. In working alongside social workers, I have witnessed the profound positive impact that a clean home can have on individuals' mental well-being, self-esteem, and overall sense of stability. It not only enhances their living conditions but also helps to restore a sense of pride and control over their lives. Together, we are empowering individuals to focus on their personal growth, relationships, and pursuit of their goals. On this World Social Work Day, let us recognize the power of collaboration and innovation in supporting individuals to improve their lives. By combining the efforts of social workers and my cleaning business, we are creating a comprehensive approach that addresses both the emotional and practical needs of those we serve. Together, we strive to make a lasting difference in the lives of individuals and families, fostering a sense of hope, dignity, and empowerment. 🌟 #WorldSocialWorkDay #CleaningBusiness #Collaboration #SupportingLives #HolisticApproach #Empowerment #MakingADifference #PersonalExperience #ProfessionalJourney #SocialWork #Inclusion #Equity #SocialCareSector #SocialWork #ChangeMakers #Community
