The Army's new software directive aims to make the service more adept at applying modern software practices to enhance speed and agility, writes Mark Pomerleau in DefenseScoop.
Per the article, "'Software more than ever before is becoming or is already a national security imperative,' said Margaret Boatner, deputy assistant secretary of the US Army for strategy and acquisition reform...
"The service wants to be able to go faster — be it buying new systems or making tweaks to existing ones — in this new digital world where the legacy hardware- and platform-centric model is outdated.
"In some instances, officials are seeing changes in a matter of weeks. 'We’re seeing instances now...(where) we’re on a two-week cycle where we’re updating things and making sure that we’re accounting for new and emerging threats,' Brig. Gen. Ed Barker, program executive officer for intelligence, electronic warfare and sensors, said."
In short, the Army is looking to enable rapid development and reduce reliance on legacy systems. At Kinetic Data, we are all about delivering those capabilities.
Our Digital Experience Platform (DXP) empowers process experts--on the battlefield or in the Pentagon--to build out new apps in weeks, expand on them iteratively, and update them at the speed of relevance.
It integrates with virtually any back-end data source or application. By separating the front-end digital experience from complex back-end tech ecosystems, it enables you swap out back-end applications and replace legacy platforms without disrupting the front-end UX or requiring retraining. Eliminate vendor lock-in while future-proofing your systems of engagement.
This isn’t our first mission. Over the past decade, we’ve implemented solutions for the US Army JLTV, US Army EITaaS, US Army CHS, Army National Guard, the Defense Information Systems Agency, the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), and more.
