“Have you ever noticed some parents struggle to comfort their kids? It's not because they don't care; it's often because they never learned how. When parents grow up feeling neglected, they may not know how to respond when their child is crying or in need of emotional support. Think of it like trying to get water from a dry well—no matter how much you need comfort, there’s just nothing left to give. 💔 This isn’t about blaming parents; it’s about understanding them. Trauma and past experiences shape how we react, often without us even realizing it. But here's the good news: the cycle can be broken. ✨ Healing begins with small steps—self-awareness, therapy, and even the courage to show up, moment by moment. No one is perfect, and no parent has it all figured out. But every step toward healing is a step toward being the parent your child needs. Remember: breaking generational patterns isn’t easy, but it’s possible. Let’s support each other on this journey. Share this if you believe in the power of change. 🌱” #ParentingJourney #BreakTheCycle #GenerationalHealing #ParentingSupportCommunity

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 All too often, those of us who work in medical devices see our value in the products themselves, or (for those of us in QA/RA) the regulations we are successfully navigating to get and keep them on the market. 🏥💼 I don't think we spend enough time appreciating the stories of the lives that have been extended and improved as the result of these devices. 🌟 March 11th provided one of the most moving examples I can think of, when Paul Alexander passed away after over 70 years in an iron lung. Paul contracted polio in 1952 at the age of 6, at a time when every parent lived in fear of their child contracting this disease. At that time treatment of symptomatic patients often required the use of an external, negative pressure ventilator (aka "iron lung") while they regained the ability to breathe unassisted. In rare cases (such as Paul's), the patient never fully recovers this ability, and needs to spend most of their time for the rest of their lives confined in this device. Paul spent the next 70 years accomplishing some pretty impressive feats: ➡️ Earned his high school diploma, bachelor's, and J.D. degrees, attending classes in person once he learned to breathe on his own for short periods of time ➡️ Practiced law for 30 years ➡️ Published a memoir, which he wrote and typed out over eight years by using a pen attached to a straw ➡️ Made paintings in a similar manner ➡️ Became a TikTok star, with more than 330,000 followers at the time of his death The iron lung (regulated under 868.5935 External negative pressure ventilator, in case you are interested) has almost entirely been replaced with better devices at this point, and successful vaccination campaigns have all but wiped this terrible disease from the planet. But Paul's life shows how much of a difference it really made. 🌍 Working in medical devices can be stressful, with requirements for safety and performance at a much higher level than most other industries, but it's examples like this that should help remind us all why we do what we do. 💪
The inspiring journey of Paul Alexander, the Texas man who lived in an iron lung for over 70 years

Creating memorable nature-based experiences & inner growth for better health, wellbeing, & community | U.S. Global Leadership Coalition State Advisory Committee | 2024 Regional March of Dimes Ambassador Family
Many are instinctively called to nature and feel better after being in its presence (outdoors & inside). It’s often an afterthought as to how and why nature and our global biodiversity are important to our health & well-being — and why we must also address the critical intersection & relationship between the public health of our communities, the conservation of land & biodiversity, climate change, and creating a proactive collaborative dialogue between tech & supply chain advancements and our environment — and why that matters to each of us globally & locally. Nature, and our understanding, connection, and appreciation of it are important in setting the foundation for the passion & innovation required to solve the largest challenges we face today and in the future. Nature is not to be taken for granted as it is essential to each of us who have ever lived. #nature #wellbeing #climatechange #leadership #innovation #tech #conservation Melissa Jennifer Jennifer Eileen Jennifer Dr Jenny Brockis Jen Heather Florence
