Today The White House announced the ambition to “upgrade 100,000 miles of transmission lines over the next five years.” The fact sheet calls out the need for “fast and cost-effective ways to unlock hundreds of gigawatts of additional clean energy, increase system reliability and resilience, reduce grid congestion, and cut energy costs.” Julia Selker, Executive Director of the WATT Coalition, said: “The Biden Administration’s commitment to upgrading 100,000 miles of the grid within five years should galvanize the electricity industry to finally deploy #GridEnhancingTechnologies at scale. “This goal recognizes that GETs are fully commercialized and deliver immediate value on the grid without delays or disruptions. “GETs are so inexpensive that they can be installed and pay for themselves within months by increasing transmission capacity. “GETs put the goal of upgrading 100,000 miles of transmission lines in five years within reach – it’s high time that utilities and system operators embrace Dynamic Line Ratings, Advanced Power Flow Control and Topology Optimization as the lowest-cost, fastest-to-deploy solutions to expand transmission capacity.” https://lnkd.in/dxBug6AQ

The reinvestment of industrial #CarbonPricing proceeds into emissions reduction projects has already made a significant impact, with current commitments equivalent to taking over 122,000 cars off the road for a year! The Decarbonization Incentive Program has committed over $89 million towards 25 projects, reducing 400,000+ tonnes of #GHG emissions by 2030, with more to come. The Future Electricity Fund has also committed over $301 million toward various clean electricity projects that are improving our electrical grids and implementing clean technology, also with more to come. The strategy improved investments in renewable energy technologies like solar, wind, and advanced battery systems. The administration is aware of the gaps in U.S. manufacturing supply chains, particularly in areas like battery production, where China currently dominates. The DOE is currently taking steps to make the switch to domestic manufacturing, and are currently on track to manufacture 80% of modules in 2026. Along with that, the DOE has recently approved a conditional loan of $1.5 billion to Qcells. "𝘛𝘰 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦, 𝘸𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘢𝘺 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴, 𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘶𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘵 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺."
