As many of us prepare to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with our families and friends I'm filled with gratitude. The challenges I face help me grow in grace and with mercy. The victories I celebrate are a reminder of the abundance of good in the world. Gratitude changes everything. I hope you are giving thanks for all of the opportunities you have received and for all of the opportunities forthcoming, whether they are opportunities for growth or opportunities to celebrate victory. I am wishing you a very happy Thanksgiving and may both your heart and your plate be abundantly filled!

3 paths to gratitude… 1 - Don’t always focus on what’s missing and what you don’t have… leaving you wanting… Focus on what you do have… can embrace… and be thankful for… 2 - Don’t always focus on the things that are beyond your control… leaving you frustrated… Focus on the things you can actually do something about and be in touch with… empowering you and giving you reason to be thankful… 3 - Don’t focus on the the past which is over and gone… or the future… which hasn’t happened yet… both of which borrow ghosts to confuse your actual life… and distract you from what right in front of your eyes… leaving you perpetually uneasy… Focus on… this… the here and now… which is your true experience of life… and what you can fully inhabit and be present for… providing proof that no matter how troubled you might find yourself… there is still always something… at some level that works… and therefore something to be thankful for… Three things… Three things you can do… Three things that have within them… the ingredients of gratitude… Happy Thanksgiving to those of you who celebrate being thankful…

This Thanksgiving, Americans are set to travel in record numbers and enjoy slightly cheaper festive dinners, thanks to lower fuel and food costs easing inflationary pressures. Nearly 80 million people will travel at least 50 miles, with airlines expecting their busiest holiday period yet. Falling crude prices have reduced petrol costs, averaging just over $3 per gallon, the lowest since 2020. Meanwhile, the cost of a Thanksgiving dinner has dropped 5% from last year, though still higher than pre-pandemic levels. Economic concerns persist, with many families scaling back celebrations, and shoppers hoping for further price reductions under Trump’s presidency. Retailers like Walmart and Target are responding by offering budget-friendly meal bundles. Despite easing inflation, consumer sentiment remains cautious, with full recovery expected to take more time. Never a Bad Time to be Grateful While Thanksgiving undoubtedly presents an opportune time for gratitude, I think it’s a dominant strategy to always be grateful. When we choose to be grateful, it can transform even the most challenging situations: declining an offer from someone, sharing difficult news, etc. Gratitude allows our sincerity shine through more effectively and helps us maintain our integrity during these interactions. I work quite a few gratefulness practices and there are 2 that I really like: 1. Upon waking, say out loud 5 things that I’m grateful for. This puts a healthy ‘lens’ on for the day. 2. Prior to meetings, intentionally create my way of being and include gratitude as part of it. I stay more centered this way. Thanks Ron Macklin for this one. I’m curious what works for everyone else.

Gratitude isn’t just a feeling—it’s a choice. Happy Thanksgiving to all our U.S. friends and beyond. Thanksgiving is more than turkey and traditions. It’s a reminder of the power of reflection. A chance to pause in a world that rarely slows down. It shifts our focus from what’s missing to what we already have. The people in our lives. The lessons we’ve learned. The small wins that carry us forward. Gratitude isn’t passive—it’s transformative. It re-centers us, helping us lead and live with purpose. So today, whether you’re celebrating with family or reflecting quietly, take a moment. Choose gratitude. What are you most grateful for this year?

This week our US-based team is taking some time off for the Thanksgiving holiday week. Thanksgiving often highlights what we’re thankful for, but what about who we’re thankful to? This week, we invite you to reflect on one person who’s made a difference in your personal or professional journey—whether they know it or not. If you're up for this gratitude exercise: (1) write them a letter of appreciation (2) tag them in the comments sharing what you appreciate most about them
