This is a story of true courage, Simon Sinek .
Not long ago, I was the victim of a theft at an international airport lobby in Europe. While traveling for work, my handbag was stolen due to my lack of attentiveness. I lost my passport, travel documents, credentials, credit cards, cash, tablet, phone, and glasses. Initially shocked, I took time to recover from the burning rage mentally before taking the necessary actions: contacting the police, filing a report, and reviewing CCTV footage.
Anger and frustration overwhelmed me, not just from the loss but from the uncertainty of what would follow. There's no manual for every life event, and I felt unprepared.
The local police's lackluster response stirred my sentiments, making it worse. As I reviewed my situation at their office, I noticed a pattern in the 38 fraudulent charges on my stolen credit cards, all linked to merchants along the Mediterranean coast. This region had seen significant human displacement due to political turmoil and war, driving people to desperate measures.
Reflecting on this, I questioned who was to blame: my inattention, the offender, ineffective law enforcement, or broader geopolitical forces. I realized my inconvenience was minor compared to the suffering of those forced to flee their homes and witness their families being killed in the name of global peace and religion. My loss, though significant to me, paled in comparison to their struggle for basic human rights and safety.
A sense of awareness took over my initial sentiments, calming my nerves. I focused on the journey, knowing my goal was to return to comfort. I realized that the offenders might have had a similar purpose: to find temporary comfort, as far as they could see. Forgiveness kicked in as a way to move forward. Optimism and resilience gradually guided me. I kept finding my why's, layer by layer.
My sincerest condolences to James's family. I cannot begin to find a moral reason to explain losing him or to feel the suffocation and suffering from his void, but I pray that his soul rests in peace and his sacrifice marks an end to such events of meaningless human desperation. James's family was able to find their "why," and so could I from my own perspective. It's like you say in your book, Simon: the key is in understanding the game of infinity.
Thank you.

The Power of Compassion and Forgiveness
In a world rife with wars, genocides, and terrorism, the need for compassion is more urgent than ever. Every person deserves love, and holding onto hatred does no good. The heartbreaking state of global affairs can only be healed by inculcating compassion in our hearts and minds.
It's not easy to forgive someone or see the good in another person, especially when anger or hurt clouds our judgment. Forgiveness is only possible with a calm and peaceful mind, and sometimes, peace itself comes from the act of forgiving.
Our constant consumption of content on social media often leaves little room for reflection. The barrage of information can overwhelm us, making it hard to find the space to think and feel deeply. Disconnecting from this constant stream and taking time to reflect is crucial for our mental and emotional well-being.
Can we start seeing the good in every person? By doing so, we set an example for our children, teaching them the values of love and compassion. In turn, they will learn from us and work to create a better world. Let's make a conscious effort to disconnect, reflect, and embrace forgiveness, paving the way for a more compassionate and peaceful future.

Thanks for this yummy conversation Barry, Rachael and Jake! My key takeaway: the better your collaboration skills, the more satisfying your work will be.
And being better at collaborating can mean different things for different people, depending on what your own coping strategies are when stressed by working with others. Some of us over collaborate as a strategy, while others prefer working alone. Find out more by discovering the gifts and challenges of your Enneagram type. https://lnkd.in/g4PGG2KP
