A look back at one of Brightcore's solar carport projects from start to finish, transforming this parking lot into a next-generation renewable energy hub. This completed 2.7MWdc project located in Purchase, NY, not only provides clean, renewable energy to its recipients but also acts as a designated community solar project (CSP). As a CSP, this installation goes above the norm, monetizing the client's employee parking spaces, reducing energy costs and improving the client's carbon footprint, and offering the remaining 60% of the system's clean, renewable energy to the surrounding community. The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Community Solar Partnership aims to expand affordable community solar access nationwide. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) leads this effort through the "Sharing the Sun" project, which tracks progress in three key areas: the availability of community solar projects by state, the affordability of subscriptions for residential users, and the inclusion of low-income households in these programs. By analyzing and monitoring these metrics, the partnership works towards making community solar accessible and affordable for all U.S. households (Energy.gov). Join the global Solar ScaleUp Challenge. Are you an innovator, developer, engineer or financier looking to deliver large-scale solar projects? Or someone with an exciting solution from another industry that could be used in solar projects? The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and Greenhouse’s global Solar ScaleUp Challenge is now open. Solar photovoltaic technology is key for global decarbonisation and the renewable energy transition. Large-scale solar deployment can unlock other renewable innovations, provide cheap electricity, grow new industries and help decarbonise high-emitting industries. But new solutions are needed to reduce costs, drive demand and unlock significant scale. So be part of the solution – join the Solar ScaleUp Challenge with other key players involved with solar farms around the world. Create a team and collaborate on ways to reduce the cost of large-scale solar installation, operation or maintenance. Teams have the opportunity to submit their solar proposals to access funding from a $100m grant pool within ARENA’s Advancing Renewables Program. Together we can help the world achieve net zero with solar power.
