This scheme helps working parents with the cost of childcare, offering up to £2,000 per child per year – a substantial saving that could make a real difference. By using this account, families can save money on their childcare bills while ensuring their children receive high-quality care and education. 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗴! Families want a reliable, affordable childcare system – the next government must prioritise that if it wants to boost the economy - by Sarah Ronan, Director of the Early Education and Childcare Coalition. "In recent years we’ve seen childcare reform climb the political agenda, and quite rightly. Not only does childcare support parents to work today, but it also provides vital early education that supports children to develop into the citizens of tomorrow, something we all have a stake in." https://loom.ly/uBwe7SE #EarlyYears #Childcare #RescueAndReform #EarlyEducation

5️⃣ principles to tackle disadvantage in Wales' childcare system. This week, we published our new report in partnership with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF), calling for a radical new childcare offer. In the report, we show how the principles developed by the JRF and the Coram Family and Childcare must be applied to childcare in Wales to tackle disadvantage. We’ve set out the evidence and solutions to make childcare in Wales: • Affordable: Childcare must be affordable in order to enable parents to work. • Quality: Provision must be high quality in order to improve outcomes. • Accessed: Disadvantaged children need to be able to take up early education and childcare. • Family-focused: Childcare must support a positive home-learning environment. • Integrated: Childcare must be a pillar of a wider support system. This week the Productivity Commission released its final inquiry report examining the early childhood education and care sector in Australia. The report focuses on creating universal access to childcare, including access to 3 days a week of high quality childcare. Importantly, this report acknowledges the challenge of thin childcare markets in regional Australia, and that market based systems alone will not provide the access regional families need. The PC’s recommendation to establish an ECEC Development Fund to provide grant, block and low-interest financing and funding, and in a flexible way to meet the needs of different types of markets (see page 29), is vital and an absolute win for regions. ✅ This reflects the outcomes of the deep dive I took into childcare with Regional Australia Institute in the Maranoa and Western Downs. This is work identified the different types of childcare markets operating in these regions, and subsequently the different pathways we need to take to support ECEC access. #regionalaustralia #ecec #regionalmarkets #morethanoneregion
