Access to the countryside and green spaces in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire are a huge advantage ⬇️ The make-up of Stoke-on-Trent's six towns mean that it's easy to "get out" and into the countryside 🚶♂️ Staffordshire is a big county and very green with an area of AONB right in the middle, Cannock Chase and the Peak District in the north🌳 In a world where people want: - a long walk over a pub crawl - a garden instead of a balcony - clean air instead of the sound of sirens - early mornings over late nights What has long felt like Stoke and Staffordshire's disadvantage could fast become a huge advantage. Someone may need to correct me on this, but I think Stoke-on-Trent is the best city in the country for access to green space. And Staffordshire's size, gorgeous canal and market towns play to the growing desire of "run and coffee is the new pub and pint" trend 🏃♂️ That's why I paid particular attention this week when I saw that Staffordshire County Council has committed to invest £18m across Cannock Chase, Chasewater and the 92 mile Staffordshire Way. As well as Cannock Chase District Council bringing two new trails to life. AND Enjoy Staffordshire receiving £300k to drive more people to Staffordshire Moorlands. In general, I believe we need to focus on what we have, not what we don't. Don't try and turn Stoke into Manchester. Our geography is unique, leverage that.

St. Thomas’ Church is one of the oldest churches within Montgomery County, dating back to 1698. The historic cemetery includes the graves of 12 veterans from the Revolutionary War. CVDA developed the master plan for the restoration of the approximately 42-acre site that included the sanctuary, historic supportive buildings including a school site, the historic cemetery, nature preserve, and community garden. One of the key challenges was upgrading the antiquated circulation and parking system to be ADA compliant while maintaining and enhancing the historic setting. The master plan improved site visibility of the sanctuary, accessibility, and wayfinding; introduced stormwater infiltration in the parking lot; established a community garden and nature preserve; created new community athletic fields; and provided for overall landscape maintenance and restoration to enhance the historic setting of the church property. The first phase included the development of a new main entrance that improved safety, stormwater management and wayfinding. #historicchurches #masterplan #wayfinding #stormwatermanagement
