Ready for back to school? We are!
🚲As we anticipate an increase in bicyclists and pedestrians, we urge the community to be alert and obey all traffic laws. We will be conducting extra patrol throughout school zones. As a reminder:
🐢 SLOW DOWN & STAY ALERT. Be aware of pedestrians and cyclists, especially in residential areas and school zones... and if you’re driving, keep your hands on the wheel - NOT the cell phone!
🚌 STOP FOR SCHOOL BUSES. By law, drivers must stop when a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm down. Watch-out for kids walking to or around the bus when it’s stopped.
🤔 HAVE A PLAN TO GET TO SCHOOL. Determine your safest route to school. Explore options and make a plan.
🚶♀️CROSS AT CROSSWALKS. Children walking or riding to school should only cross streets at crosswalks and intersections - never between cars! Obey signals at intersections and obey crossing guards.
🪖WEAR A HELMET. When riding bicycles or scooters, wear a helmet for safety.
🏫 FOLLOW DROP-OFF PROCEDURES AND SPEED LIMITS. When dropping off or picking up your students, follow all school procedures, and all local speed limits.
📣 SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING If you witness drivers acting in a dangerous fashion, contact 911 and inform us immediately.
Thanks for keeping our community safe!
