📈 Earning my CFP® Designation: My Educational Journey in Financial Advice 🔎 When I started working in financial advice in 2008, I was stunned to find that the standard educational requirement for becoming an adviser was the RG 146 qualification—which could be completed in just two days! 😳 I remember feeling horrified. 😱😱 How could this be enough to equip someone to manage clients’ lifetime savings and investments responsibly? The thought didn’t sit right with me, and I knew I had to take a different path. I chose the challenging route of deeper education. Despite already having a background in Finance, I pursued the Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning (DFP & ADFP), and ultimately the coveted Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation. I don’t regret a single moment of it. 📚 The theoretical knowledge I gained through these studies, combined with the real-world experience of working directly with clients, prepared me to provide holistic, high-quality advice that truly serves the best interests of those I work with. So, when I read articles like the one below—showing that trust in financial advisers is at an all-time high and that clients are particularly appreciating the value of CFP-qualified advisers—I feel validated. This journey was worth every moment. 💪 Moreover, clients who work with a CFP are seeing higher levels of financial confidence, satisfaction, and overall experience compared to those without. This is the kind of positive change the industry needs and why it’s critical to invest in the right education and credentials.
