At Brighton Our World, we often ponder an essential question: "Who will lead us tomorrow?" The answer lies in today's children, and our mission is to nurture these future leaders through compassion, community, and education. BOW is dedicated to building the leaders of tomorrow by instilling the values of generosity and service from a young age. Our programs, such as children helping children, not only teach kids how to give back but also the importance of empathy and understanding. These experiences are foundational in shaping thoughtful, proactive, and caring leaders who will navigate the challenges of the future with grace and determination. By supporting their growth through scholarships, educational initiatives, and community involvement, we ensure that these young minds receive the tools they need to succeed and make a difference. Our aim is not just to develop their academic skills but to foster a sense of responsibility and a commitment to making the world a better place. Join us as we invest in our children today, so they are ready to lead us into tomorrow. Designing transformative leadership journeys for changemakers globally | Peace Educator | International Facilitator | Founder@The Peace Collective
First week of being a teacher. Two boys (7 years old). One took the other’s pencil without asking. The owner of the pencil gave him a whack on his head. No questions asked, no statements such as , “hey, that’s mine”; just a straight whack on the head (for taking his pencil). Elise Boulding made an acute observation: “The culture of peace is something which is learned, just as violence is learned and war culture is learned.” Over the next 2 years, we consciously built a culture of respect, care and safety in our classroom. Slowly, we became a class where we chose not to use violence as our first response. The Peace Collective is excited to share a course co-created with the amazing Purvi Vora called ‘Building Peaceful Schools- A Leadership Journey Towards Positive Change’. A batch with 60 school leaders starts in October this year. But before we do that, we wanted to open this 6 week course (Aug-Sept) for a selected small group of school leaders and education focused nonprofits who are committed to use education for creating a peaceful society. This course is for you if you- ✨ care about building a more inclusive, harmonious and safe culture in your school ✨ are committed to securing students’ social-emotional and physical safety ✨ want to use the tenets of peace education to critically reflect on your school systems and culture ✨ are in a position to affect change in your institution Share your interest here- https://lnkd.in/giVjTwx3 Last Date 21st July, 2024 Do spread the word. #peaceeducation #leadershipforpeace #cultureofpeace

Director of Education at Barr Foundation | School Design, Nonprofit Management, Education Policy, Program Development, Philanthropy
In this issue of the (Ed)ition, we’re featuring 3 interconnected & mutually reinforcing themes that research & experience tell us are key to centering student learning and wellbeing in tumultuous times. We hope you find the inspirations & resources useful as you navigate this season. ✔️Responsive learning experiences. High schools have the opportunity to focus on the main thing (meaningful, quality instruction) while simultaneously capitalizing on the distractions (addressing issues that deeply affect students’ lives). ✔️Welcoming schools. Young people need spaces amidst the chaos that promote physical and psychological safety and feelings of belonging. ✔️Steady leadership. Leaders in education nonprofits, school systems, and schools all play an important role to navigate the context and provide the vision and cover to stay focused on student experiences. https://lnkd.in/eM3sWapv

As you know, the Massachusetts Student Opportunity Act (SOA) requires your district to create a three-year plan to rapidly address persistent disparities in achievement across student groups. One of the requirements of these plans is to select evidence-based programs to address disparities in outcomes. We can help your district with the implementation of your plans. The Center for Leadership and Educational Equity (CLEE) has many evidence-based professional development practices that can help address these disparities and measure impact. We are a national organization located in Rhode Island with a local footprint in Massachusetts. https://lnkd.in/gqKWg67f
