📊 🔎 🏡 Success must be measured by whether the number of people experiencing homelessness is going down, month over month, and whether that work is producing equitable outcomes. Find out if your community is releasing that number publicly, every month. If not, advocate for your community to join the cities and counties across the country moving toward quality, real-time data. #HomelessnessIsSolvable ➡️ Learn more: https://bit.ly/3v0IT9n

"As the [point in time] numbers are added up, it’s important to ask: What is the nation learning from this data? And more importantly, how are local leaders using it to craft more effective and humane homelessness policies? We have solutions that work — we just need the political will to invest in and scale them.

Did you know that according to the Department of Education, Georgia has a homeless population of 42,000 people, while by HUD's definition, the number is only around 8,000? These varying definitions can significantly impact how we understand and address homelessness. So, why the difference? Factors such as eligibility criteria for housing assistance, the scope of included populations, and methodologies for counting individuals contribute to these disparities. Regardless of the definition, one thing remains clear: the challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness are real and multifaceted. At Open Doors, we're committed to taking action and opening doors to brighter futures for all. #WednesdayWisdom #OpenDoorsAtlanta #HomelessnessAwareness #Atlanta #CommunitySupport

🌟 Elevated Denver is excited to announce the release of our latest Issue Brief: "Community Landscape: Gaps in the Housing & Homelessness System Keep People in Crisis." This report is a culmination of extensive research, including interviews with 38 unhoused individuals and insights from two community forums. Our findings reveal significant systemic barriers that keep individuals trapped in cycles of homelessness, such as limited accessibility to essential services, overwhelmed case management systems, and inadequate post-housing support. Despite these challenges, we discovered inspiring resilience within the community, bolstered by strong social networks and dedicated advocacy organizations. "For many of our unhoused neighbors, trusted relationships with case managers and community support networks are lifelines that provide both hope and tangible assistance in overcoming daily challenges." We invite policymakers, public leaders, and community members to engage with these insights and collaborate with us to drive meaningful change in Denver's housing and homelessness systems. Together, we can create a more inclusive and effective system that supports all individuals in achieving stability and dignity. Local and state elected officials have a critical role to play in helping communities equitably and measurably end homelessness. 🏡 🌎 For example, mayors, county executives, and governors in Built for Zero have served as powerful accelerants in helping communities drive towards functional zero, by exercising their convening power, garnering resources to support population-level outcomes, and creating accountability for reductions. #HomelessnessIsSolvable Learn how your elected officials can take action: https://bit.ly/3vW4S2i

Collaboration is key…
Homelessness is a social, economic, and public health problem of growing magnitude in the United States, with New Jersey’s homeless population still rising beyond 10,000 persons. Today, homeless individuals face many complex problems, which makes it important to take a different approach. We need to take action together! Let’s create a "Community-Based Collaboration" to eradicate women and family homelessness. Community-based collaboration is the process by which citizens, agencies, organizations, and businesses make formal, sustained commitments to work together to accomplish a shared vision. It requires a commitment to share decision-making and the allocation of human, physical, and financial resources. When communities do not develop a pattern of collaboration, they diminish community development potential. Effective collaboration results in win-win-win situations. So, who’s in? Who wants to learn more about creating a community-based collaboration with TPCS? To learn more contact Dawn Schwartz at dschwartz@tpcsinc.org. #collaboration #communityservice #getinvolved

San Francisco is innovating #DigitalTransformation through #CommunityEngagement. The San Francisco digital #iteam, in partnership with the City Board of Supervisors, is addressing critical issues like government accountability regarding homelessness. Their approach? Community interaction through dynamic neighborhood workshops. Tackling the challenge of #DataOverload, the team aims to provide residents with clear, actionable insights into the homelessness crisis. This initiative is a direct response to early resident feedback. While the team’s key objective is the centralization of data on interactions with individuals experiencing homelessness, this effort is not just about data collection; it's about sharing these findings openly with the community to foster trust and engagement. This new initiative stands as a testament to the power of #PublicInnovation and #DigitalTransformation in creating meaningful community impact.
