Just when we thought ghosting was injury enough... A new social media behavior- Cloaking - refers to Ghosters permanently blocking those they have already ghosted. This wipes out all evidence of what happened between the two parties, leaving the ghosted victim silenced and confused by such drastic measures. Beware of people who show signs of self-centeredness, lack empathy, blame others, talk badly about others, lack accountability, and are vague and sketchy about details typically found in healthy conversations. At all costs, move on! These people are most likely interested in changing. Count your losses and be grateful that they revealed their true selves sooner than later. As a society, a worthy goal would be to completely disassemble the stigma of being a victim. Abuse creates, shame, blame, embarrassment, fear, and denial among a whole other cornucopia of emotions and behaviors. The message needing to be heard loud and clear is that these feelings are not to be owned by the child or adult who has already suffered immense physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual pain brought on by the perpetrator(s). These would best be utilized as a catalyst for breaking the abuse cycle by the one(s) invoking this pain. My hope is that all who experience these feelings seek professional help so the healing can come full circle back to those who have been needlessly harmed. Abusive relationships are far more common than one would think. In this month's blog, I take a look at the different forms of abuse, the effects of abuse as well as how to combat the repercussions of abuse. https://lnkd.in/g8PPWjAg One of the most significant and severe symptoms of abuse is a low self-esteem and sometimes even victim-blaming. This is when the victim blames themselves for the abuse and comes to believe that they deserve this. No matter who you are, no one deserves abuse. Healing from abusive relationships starts with this profound realisation and grows with all efforts at empowerment and building a positive self-image. We all deserve positive, supportive and affirming relationships in our lives. There is also a strong correlation to exposure to abuse in childhood and exposure to abuse in adult relationships.
