When we consider that about 40% of the EU budget (the #CAP) is spent on about 4% of the labor force (farmers) it is incredible how this huge amount of funding seems not to have positively impacted farmers' well-being. We think that by adopting bioeconomy models, we can change this- making farmers an integral part of material supply chains using their wastes for financial and ecological benefit. The Brilian project, funded by the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) is demonstrating various ways in which this can happen through pilots in Italy, Spain and Denmark. Engaging with farmers is always difficult because they are so busy. So here is your chance to hear their voices. ♻️ Last week our coordinators from RISE Research Institutes of Sweden participated in the event “Horizon Europe: What is a Living Lab and How Do You Participate?” to explore how Living Labs can lead to Sustainable Land Use. ✍ The event was organised by the Swedish Agency for Innovation Systems (@KSLA) in Stockholm. It brought together researchers, farmers, foresters, landowners, and industry experts to dive into the potential of Living Labs as a tool for testing and demonstrating innovative solutions to land use and soil health challenges. 🌱 From iCOSHELLs project, Erik Sindhöj and Cheryl Marie Cordeiro shared insights into our Mission Soil Living Labs and their role in advancing sustainable land management practices. iCOSHELLs, part of Horizon Europe’s first wave of Mission Soil Living Labs, is actively contributing to transforming how we approach soil health and agroecology. 🌍 The key highlights from the seminar were: ✅ Understanding the Living Labs methodology as a collaborative platform. ✅ Insights into EU Mission Soil & AGROECOLOGY initiatives. ✅ Real-life examples from projects like iCOSHELLs - Innovative co-creation soil health living labs and AGROECOLOGY Partnership.
