To the kind attention of my colleagues in the #Interreligious #dialogue field, As advocates and believers for the protection of sacred sites, I urge you to raise your voice against the ongoing destruction of historical Armenian churches and religious symbols. #Azerbaijan has destroyed or distorted these places of #worship...Do not be fooled by Aliyev's state propaganda of being beacons of religious tolerance; look at their actions, remember their war crimes and crimes against humanity committed just couple of months ago that resulted in the complete ethnic cleansing of the entire indigenous Armenian population from their historical ancestral homelands... While they invest huge political and diplomatic resources to present an image of harmony and respect for all faiths, the systematic destruction and alteration of Armenian religious sites reveal completely a different reality. This is just a hypocrisy that contradicts the essence of religious freedom/diversity and cultural preservation. Your #voice matters in raising awareness and stopping the ongoing erasure of religious and cultural heritage that belongs to all of #humanity. P.s. 1- This has nothing to do with being impartial or neutral. Speaking against erasure of places of worship and holding the perpetraitors accountable is part of our mission to promote peace and harmony. 2- Since I am an Armenian, this post might sound like a biased statement for some of you, but It is not. I am aware of my own biases. I truely beleive that these sites belong to our collective history and preserving them is our responsibility.

Pastor Bob Roberts, Jr., founder of GlocalNet and co-founder of Multi-Faith Neighbors Network (MFNN), is working with Imam Mohamed Magid and Rabbi David Saperstein to build resilient communities of mutual trust and respect among faith leaders through honest dialogue, authentic relationships, and civic engagement in an effort to build resilient cities around the world. MFNN provides a platform for people to connect with God and one another by building empathy. Only then can one begin to relate to others who think differently, and thus find common ground. MFNN is intentionally multi-faith. It respects the fact that different religions have exclusivist beliefs about spiritual realities. It is not interested in anyone giving up their faith convictions. In a broader, secular context, ‘liturgy’ takes on a metaphorical role, referring to any prescribed routine or set of practices performed by a community. Over the centuries, conflicts, power struggles, and political agendas have shaped the relationships between three religions in the region (Jewish, Christian and Muslim). While the teachings of the Tanakh highlight the Jewish connection to the land, it is essential to note that interpretations of religious texts can vary significantly among different groups, individuals and generations.  Zionism, in particular, emerged as a response to the historical persecution and displacement of Jewish people. It advocates for establishing a Jewish homeland, which materialized in the form of the state of Israel. This movement gained momentum during the early 20th century, fueled by the desire for a haven for Jewish people following the horrors of the Holocaust. However, the creation of Israel also sparked tension and conflict with other groups, such as Palestinians, mainly Muslims, who have long-standing connections to the land as well. This has led to a complex and profoundly entrenched conflict, with both sides claiming historical and religious rights to the land. In this complex web of historical, political, and religious factors, the idea of three states based on the three religions living harmoniously on the same land becomes a challenging proposition. Today, the Vatican is considered a land of Christianity, so why not end decades of animosity, violence, and territorial disputes and designate the most conflictual area to be simply home to religious ideologies?

From the lively rituals that punctuate the daily routine to the grandeur of communal ceremonies, these expressions weave a rich tapestry of cultural identity. It's a testament to the power of spirituality in fostering unity and fostering a sense of purpose. The diversity of practices is not just a reflection of our varied backgrounds but a celebration of the strength that comes from embracing our differences.In this mosaic of faith, each encounter becomes an opportunity to learn, to understand, and to appreciate the unique perspectives that shape our collective narrative.
