Bring Hope Humanitarian Foundation’s Post

🌍 The Power of Human Rights Education in Humanitarian Settings 🌍 Research shows that Human Rights Education (HRE) plays a key role in fostering social cohesion and empowering refugee communities. A great example of this is the Makani programme in Jordan funded by UNICEF which leverages Human Rights Education (HRE) to foster coexistence and empower adolescents. The program focuses on teaching rights awareness, conflict resolution, and active community engagement while addressing culturally sensitive and challenging topics such as child marriage and gender-based violence. Key takeaways:  ✅ Invest in facilitator training and ensure programmes are properly resourced. ✅ Promote integration by including both refugee and host communities in activities. ✅ Guarantee safe spaces with robust reporting mechanisms for participants to address rights violations. ✅ Tailor programmes to meet the specific needs and cultural contexts of participants. When done right, non-formal education programmes that incorporate HRE can be a very powerful tool to empower individuals and strengthen communities!
