Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt to help organizations with Sustainability and ESG initiatives

Really cool experience this week. Our friends have a farm in Homestead, and we’ve been helping them find an outlet for their #canistel fruit (also called yellow sapote or eggfruit). I posted about the fruit a while back. We found a small vegan restaurant Aguacate that was excited to use the canistel in their smoothies, but since we only visit the farm every other weekend, a lot of the fruit falls on the ground and is not sellable. Eddie Leon runs MIA Bruhaus in Doral, and when we told him about the fruit, he was curious if he could make a berliner weisse beer out of the fruit. The cool part was that he could take some of the ripe fruit from the ground, which would end up rotting. The first batch was just tapped, and it turned out pretty good. More experiments to perform, as some of the flavor was lost in the final stages of brewing, but a great start! What I thought was even cooler was everyone in the value stream got to meet each other. Farm owners (Brian and Federico), fruit pickers (owners, family members, and Vera and I), transporters from farm to brewery (us), the brewmaster (Eddie) and the customers (patrons). Lots of great conversation and networking about a wide variety of topics. This won’t be the last time I’m sure. We enjoyed tasting the canistel beer, along with their other offerings (I really like their porter, and their old fashioned bourbon and guava beer was a hit). The food is really good as well, they made us some #vegan mushroom tacos with beyond burger. If you’re in the Miami area, stop by MIA Bruhaus and ask for the “Pouteria Y Pina” (Canistel and Pineapple) beer! How can you bring your #valuestream together to network, learn from each other and create opportunities to do things more efficiently and add more value to your end customers? Do your internal departments talk to each other in a relaxed setting? How often are you talking to your suppliers about strategy and improvement? Something to consider for 2024…
