Connecting #Brisbane with the world has had many perks – and this year we’re celebrating 100 years of welcoming famous faces to town. Today’s #FlashbackFriday comes from the 1950s and 60s when BNE welcomed The Beatles, Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Marina Duchess of Kent to beautiful Brisbane. But that’s not the only time we’ve had to practice our royal welcome. Over the past 100 years, we’ve given out plenty of royal waves, with Queen Elizabeth II returning to Brisbane in 1963, 1970, 1988 and 2011. For 100 years, Brisbane Airport has connected our city to the world, and welcomed celebrities to town – and we’ve got plenty more on the horizon. 📷Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II arriving at the old International Terminal in the 1970's Learn more about the history of Brisbane Airport: https://brnw.ch/21wQ3MT #BrisbaneAirport #BNE #History #Queensland

Figured I give some insight to treaties and a call to action. TRC call to action: 94. We call upon the Government of Canada to replace the Oath of Citizenship with the following: I swear (or affirm) that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada, Her Heirs and Successors (King Charles now), and that I will faithfully observe the laws of Canada including Treaties with Indigenous Peoples, and fulfill my duties as a Canadian citizen. [6] Did you know: Between 1760 and 1923, the British Crown signed 56 land treaties with Indigenous Peoples. The ones we mainly see now are the numbered treaties. Curious to know if anyone recently swore an Oath of Citizenship to see if it was implemented?

A detailed look at the new King Charles banknotes from the Bank of England. Cash is far from going away. Propositions such as Kasssh are opening up new cash options for consumers alongside card payments. Also, helping online merchants attract new customer segments that may previously have avoided using a card. Very smart. Whatever size your business is, cash is still a significant part of many firms' payment options. 🌍 Although, when I last visited Europe I did see a lot more contactkess card use than cash versus the UK. Do you think the UK will go the same way or will they be printing wheel barrow loads of these new notes for some time to come? Hopefully, they will drop a few wheelbarrows off at my house. 🤣 #business #businessintelligence #cash #payments

Queen Elizabeth II: The Unseen Journey and Controversial Legacy Queen Elizabeth II's reign was marked by significant milestones, but her journey was far from the fairytale often portrayed. The recently released documentary Elizabeth: The Unseen Queen reveals rare, private footage from her early life and reign, showcasing moments never before seen by the public. However, beneath the surface of her historic reign lies a web of controversy that has sparked intense debate. One of the most controversial aspects of her rule involves the brutal response to anti-colonial movements during the decolonization of the British Empire. While she played a ceremonial role, the British military's actions in places like Kenya, where thousands were detained and tortured during the Mau Mau uprising, have cast a long shadow over her legacy. Critics argue that although she didn't directly order these actions, her silence and continued celebration of the empire raise difficult questions about her role in these dark chapters of history. This unseen journey and the controversies surrounding her reign add a complex layer to the story of a queen who witnessed—and often quietly influenced—some of the most pivotal moments of the 20th and 21st centuries. #QueenElizabethII #UnseenJourney #BritishEmpire #Colonialism #RoyalFamily Sources: https://loom.ly/LF4iIh8 https://loom.ly/yHz3ObA Keywords: Queen Elizabeth II, unseen journey, British Empire, decolonization, colonialism, Mau Mau uprising, royal family, controversies, legacy, British monarchy, rare footage, historical documentary, royal influence, public perception, empire history
