Day 8/15: IIM Experience and Journey Series You can convert Summer internship into a PPO if you: ▶︎ Know who will take the decision for the PPO: Build good rapport with your immediate boss and all stakeholders of your project because they will ultimately be putting in a word for you. ▶︎ Communicate your work: Provide weekly updates of work done, topics learnt, what work is left for the next week, what support you will require to your manager. ▶︎Stay hungry & curious for learning: Show that you want to learn. Be curious and open to understanding what projects other people in the company are working on. Ask doubts from your manager when you are stuck. ▶︎ Network within the company: Know other employees, interns in your department. You never know who may put in a good word for you. ▶︎ Ask for feedback: Don’t just keep doing the work. Ask your manager feedback on your style of working, the things you need to improve on. ▶︎ Help others: If you have the time, help other team members or colleagues. Embracing Change and Overcoming Challenges Reflecting on my transformative journey at Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur, I've come to appreciate how embracing change can lead to remarkable personal and professional growth. When I first embarked on my MBA journey at Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur, I confronted numerous uncertainties and fears—fear of the unknown, fear of rejection, and doubts about my academic and social capabilities. The thought of adapting to a new environment, forging new friendships, and excelling academically initially felt daunting. However, as I immersed myself in the experience, those fears gradually gave way to confidence and resilience. Now, having successfully completed one year of my MBA and two-month summer internship, I can confidently affirm that every challenge has served as a stepping stone for my growth. I've learned the value of resilience, adaptability, and embracing change as catalysts for personal and professional development. Each academic endeavor, internship experience, and campus life interaction has equipped me with invaluable skills and diverse perspectives that continue to shape my journey. 👩💻Finally, one of the most enriching chapters in my MBA journey has come to an end. Greetings LinkedIn community, What you see here is actually a lot more than just a milestone for a baby IIM (not anymore) like ours. Given the circumstances of the job market, to achieve 100% internship placements is a historical event and to witness this first hand is what blows my mind. With that said, I would like to emphasise on the “HOW” aspect of this achievement since there is an entire iceberg underneath where this comes from. So yeah, HOW? 💡JOINT EFFORTS: This achievement is a result of active collaboration and communication between the Committees, primarily IIM Sirmaur Placement Committee, Industrial Relations Committee IIM Sirmaur, E&I Cell, IIM SIRMAUR. This year IIM Sirmaur has had the highest number of companies coming for SIP’s and what exactly makes it possible is teamwork. Take a bow! 💡FREEDOM: What I mean by freedom is just as simple as it sounds. Amidst many reported cases of forced sign outs and sign ins, IIM Sirmaur’s Placement Committee lead by Karthikeyan Balakumar Sir, has performed nothing less than freedom fighters where not student was forced into an unwanted opportunity rather, students were supported all through the season both jointly as well as on an individual level. 💡TRANSPARENCY: The truth prevails and the results are as clear as waters flowing on the Himalayas. Having attended numerous meetings, there has always been absolute transparency between the student mass and the Placement Committee. Placement Chair Karthikeyan Balakumar Sir has fearlessly shared, in his language “there’s Good news and there’s Bad news” with respect to every matter concerning students regarding placements. I could go on but I feel that the above information has potential and can actually transform any institution aspiring for the same results, apart from the fact that we have a HULK and his name is Karthikeyan Balakumar. Each and everyone of us understands that the story is not over yet, there is a lot of work to be done for future preparation, but not today. Today we celebrate.
