"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now." - Let me share a video about attracting and retaining top talent in Singapore's maritime sector. Here's a reality check - unlike becoming a doctor, lawyer, or pilot, maritime isn't typically a "dream career" for most Singaporean youth. And in our parent-guided education system, this is exactly where we need to focus. The maritime industry needs to start telling its story earlier - even before students reach polytechnic or university. Why? Because in Singapore, career paths often begin taking shape during secondary school, guided by family influences and education choices. What many parents and students don't realize: - Maritime offers diverse, well-paying career paths - Not all roles require sea-going experience - Singapore is one of the world's busiest ports and a leading maritime hub - The sector offers excellent career progression opportunities The key is awareness. When parents and students understand these opportunities early, maritime can become a career of choice, not chance. Through proper engagement and education, we can help families see maritime not just as a job, but as a promising career path in Singapore's future. Watch this video to understand how we can transform maritime from an accidental career into an aspirational one. #MaritimeSG #SGCareers #Shipping #MaritimeEducation #SingaporeMaritime

China students made up about 38 per cent of more than 110,000 foreign students in Malaysia. That’s a huge 41,800 students. It appears the China students have assimilated well here. Going forward it’s very encouraging for joint projects, collaborations and ventures between Malaysia and China. Perhaps there’s some light at the end of the tunnel. https://lnkd.in/gziyWpTx

Relocating to China as an International student 📚📖📍 Hello my dear reader. My last update was about me getting a scholarship and relocating to China. Now very familiar with the place I can call myself a zhongguo xuesheng (Chinese student) This is my first time to study in a foreign country physically and I can say it takes about 2 months to fully settle in because I am 2 months in now and I can say I have settled. The exciting part My school gave us a very warm welcome. We had activities everyday for 7 days to help us get acquainted with each other and also get to know the campus and the basics to living in China. I have also had the opportunity already to attend lectures by some of the world's most influential people and visited some very interesting places. The difficult part China is 6 hours ahead of my country so the first difficult thing to adjust to is the time to sleep. I spent my first two weeks sleeping very late and not having a normal sleeping pattern. The most interesting thing by far The food here is very different from food at home but what do I really think about the food? This being a very interesting topic for me and I wil cover it in full context in another post How have you been my LinkedIn family? #relocating #internationalstudent #mscstudent #accountant #audit #china

Interesting report, Malaysia doesn't have top ranking Universities on any of the World Academic Ranking, yet many Chinese pursue postgraduate education there. It seems, the Chinese value the Degree as Master with relatively low tuition fee and cost of living of that attractiveness, than World Ranking. Therefore, the Master Degree takes precedence in getting ahead within HR departments. Also to show Academic Qualification as higher Degree is deeply ingrained for door-opening FutureReady. To our next-gen Singaporeans, when and what will be your Master Degree Qualification, looking at the Chinese Master Graduates in Malaysia, the number is higher than our yearly birth rate - Let's hear from you 🌿
Malaysia emerges as preferred destination for mainland Chinese students
