Happy Kwanzaa! This seven-day festival celebrates African and African American heritage and culture. Each night, a candle is lit to represent one of seven principles. The principles, called the Nguzo Saba, are: unity (umoja), self-determination (kujichagulia), collective responsibility (ujima), cooperative economics (ujamaa), purpose (nia), creativity (kuumba) and faith (imani). Today we reflect on and celebrate Indigenous traditions and heritage, in recognition of International Day of World’s Indigenous Peoples. Indigenous peoples of the world are creators, inheritors and practitioners of rich, sophisticated and unique cultures and ways of sharing knowledge. This year’s theme is protecting the rights of indigenous peoples and one of those rights is the right to be different. Indigenous peoples of this continent are the oldest story tellers in the world. In Kauwirlta, Uncle Mickey Kumatpi O’Brien is sharing a story- an old story which recognises diverse identities and the right to be different, but also celebrate similarities: https://lnkd.in/g7Q5yKtu
