This is a great example of the impact of creating a dedicated space for early talent, with the ability for two-way interactions with mentors and self-led exploration of the company - it builds a strong emotional connection between talent and employer. "Being able to connect with mentors has allowed me to have a more in-depth view regarding what I need to do to get to where I want to be, which has proved to be invaluable in opening my mind to the potential scholarships and opportunities there are to enrich and further my career preparation. The “opportunities” part of the platform is very accessible and great for keeping you up to date with what is going on and the potential opportunities available to you. The modules provide you with a general overview into the morals and stance British Airways has as a company, as well as advice and guidance. With the increasing gap between pilot supply and demand globally, we’ll be seeing more and more ab-initio pilots entering the force even in large legacy carriers like British Airways. Training efficiency and productivity will require more creativity and innovation. The digital experience of the new generation of pilots will lead to strong demand for data sharing and access across the board. Providing data insights based on actual flight data helps the development of pilot skills and competencies and reduces the workload on their instructors. I wanted to be a pilot! 👩✈️ 👩✈️ Let’s digest that for a moment… How did I end up in HR you wonder… well Tonny Robbins says It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped. I made a decision when I got to University that shaped my destiny and I have never looked back. Don’t get me wrong though, I still do admire the pilots in the airport dragging their suitcases past security in their nice uniforms. It was a good dream I had growing up, my role model at the time was Captain Koki Mutungi, as the only female pilot at the time that had achieved certain feats at a young age, she was such an inspiration and of course she would therefore be featured in the media. I’m sure she also inspired many young girls to follow in her footsteps. Years down the line, I made a decision to pursue HR and I have never looked back. In my line of work I have interacted with professionals from various fields and learned a lot from the interactions. From these encounters I have ended up discovering so much about myself and the passion I have for people. I truly enjoy being in HR and seeing the impact it has on people when you fulfil your commitments. I actually have two colleagues that are former pilots, so hey I still got to rub shoulders with the pilots 😊 Two things I have learned in my line of work; 🌟 ️It’s never too late to follow your dreams, I have met people who changed their careers because what they were doing was not their passion. ️ 🌟 You have the power within you to change your destiny. What do you do when an AI word cloud goes completely south...west  Southwest Airlines My daughter, a junior at Tuskegee University, Boeing intern and future aerospace engineer, saw an AI generated word cloud at Southwest Airlines' corporate offices in Dallas. I'll let you figure out the word that has unexplainably been tied to the airline industry's trending words. She was the only woman of color on the tour. While the other interns laughed, she asked the tour guide why it was so prominently displayed - this is again, Southwest Airlines' HEADQUARTERS. The response - it's AI generated and can't be changed. This is simply unacceptable and the opposite of a big flex! AI is a powerful tool that does not come without responsibility and accountability! As a mother I am heartbroken that my daughter was exposed to this, yet so proud of her for speaking up! As a woman of color in the corporate world, I'm frustrated that this was her first corporate encounter with racial insensitivity, but unfortunately, it may not be her last. Many of us have faced similar situations, where speaking up only results in our voices being silenced.
