🌱 Right to Grow: A Call to Action 🌱 It’s surprising that we need to petition for the right to grow our own food. How did we reach a point where we depend on third parties for our food supply? At Seeds for Growth, we are dedicated to transforming unused spaces into thriving community gardens. We believe in the power of gardening to bring people together and the joy of growing your own food. There’s nothing more rewarding than harvesting fresh, locally grown produce and savoring its flavors. Now, more than ever, it’s crucial to take personal responsibility for our food sources. By doing so, we can build resilience and reduce our dependence on long, unsustainable food chains. We commend the team Incredible Edible for their efforts to create a register of public land suitable for growing vegetables and fruits, allowing local groups to apply for access. This initiative is a significant step towards empowering communities and promoting sustainable food practices. #RightToGrow #CommunityGardening #SustainableLiving #LocalProduce #FoodResilience #IncredibleEdible #SeedsForGrowth https://lnkd.in/gQ3DjxGS

𝗛𝗼𝘄 ‘𝗣𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗽 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗽’ 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗮𝗷𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 In the semi-arid village of Rampura in Rajasthan, Rajesh Yadav, a 42-year-old farmer, faced an uphill battle against water scarcity. Despite owning fertile land, the erratic rainfall and depleting groundwater meant his crop yields were steadily declining. The thought of abandoning farming had crossed his mind more than once. Everything changed when Rajesh attended a local agricultural seminar and learned about the Per Drop More Crop initiative, a key component of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY). Designed to promote micro-irrigation systems like drip and sprinkler irrigation, the scheme aimed at helping farmers maximize water efficiency and boost crop productivity. With support from the local agriculture department, Rajesh applied for the scheme and received a subsidy to install a drip irrigation system on his farm. The process was smooth, thanks to the technical and financial assistance provided under the initiative. Once installed, the system delivered water directly to the roots of his crops, minimizing wastage and ensuring optimal hydration. Rajesh also received training on modern farming techniques, including crop alignment for water efficiency, nutrient management, and soil health testing. Encouraged by experts, he diversified his crops, growing high-value vegetables like tomatoes and cucumbers alongside his traditional wheat crop. Within a single season, the results were remarkable. Rajesh’s water usage dropped by nearly 40%, while his yield doubled. His income soared, allowing him to clear debts and invest in expanding his farm. “Thanks to Per Drop More Crop, I’ve learned how to farm smarter, not harder,” Rajesh said with pride. The initiative’s impact went beyond individual success. Neighboring farmers, inspired by Rajesh’s transformation, adopted similar practices. The village saw a collective improvement in agricultural output and water conservation. For Rajesh, the scheme wasn’t just about saving water—it was about reviving hope. “This program gave me a second chance to succeed as a farmer,” he shared. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gNKCz-3h?
