As film and television production nationwide faces challenges in recovery, Savannah is taking proactive steps to enhance its appeal. The city has significantly increased its cash rebates to attract more production companies. For those shooting feature films in and around Savannah, the rebate has been raised from $100,000 to an impressive $175,000. Additionally, for television series, the rebate has grown from $250,000 to $300,000. “The Savannah Economic Development Authority has approved a bump in incentives that began New Year’s Day to draw productions back to our area. “Incentives have largely driven the film and television industry of where they’re shooting, where they’re spending their money,” said Savannah Regional Film Commission Executive Director, Walker Dalton. Dalton with Savannah’s Regional Film Commission said under the new incentives, feature films could get $175,000 to film locally up 75% from the old program.
