If I were to teach a class on film, and I could only choose 7 movies based on different aspects to study, these would be my picks: 1. El Sur by Erice (with a focus on characters) 2. La Dolce Vita by Fellini, or 2001: A Space Odyssey by Kubrick (with a focus on structure) 3. Opening Night by Cassavetes (with a focus on acting) 4. Vampyr by Dreyer, or The Turin Horse by Tarr (with a focus visual storytelling) 5. Three Colors: Blue by Kieslowski (with a focus on motifs) 6. My Dinner with Andre by Malle (with a focus on artistic choices and restraint) 7. Das Boot by Petersen (with a focus on immersion) [Gif from 2001: A Space Odyssey, by Stanley Kubrick]

Innocent, fun film to enjoy this weekend. From a time when the movies were actually a real entertainment proposition! The plot was designed specifically to have couples excitedly whispering to each other and giggling in movie theatres / cinemas. These films were made in order to be enjoyed and not taken seriously. People went to the movies as part of a "night out" and sometimes enjoyed a few drinks. Nothing too deep or philosophical was required. Fun times and I believe the cyclical nature of culture will make great winners of producers who can provide some kind of equivalent for contemporary audiences ......and perhaps rescue the movie industry at the eleventh hour! Notes:- (1) Parallels Bogart / Bacall inspiration ending. (2) Parallels Sean Connery beach scenes. (3) Parallels Sid James type character boatman at the end. (4) Parallels Podge & Rodge puppet voiceovers / inspired by end segment? voices. (5) Old-school special effects of bee flying near window pane. (6) No doubt as to which movie character inspired "The Major" in Fawlty Towers! (7) If you are a real movie buff, now go to Simon Ward´s You Tube Channel and view the same movie in a colorized version prepared by Simon. A real insight into a transitional moment for the movie industry! Not just a question of whether to use colour or not, by the way! SO many other factors involved.....

Dear film friends, Dear producers, this script "Christina of Eibingen and The Grail of the Teutonic Order" is not the first from the Screencreater „workshop“, but it is the most significant. At the center of the story is a relic and the question, could the Holy Grail (San Gral, also San Graal, Sang Raal, Sang Réal, and Sangraal) be the Shroud of Turin? What initially seems far-fetched has been meticulously researched. The work not only meets all the standards of a good screenplay but also leaves nothing to be desired in terms of dramaturgy. Realized as a feature film, it will transport the audience to previously unknown worlds. Historical facts have been combined with a gripping story to create a visually powerful film work.

As the start of a new trilogy, this film is certainly a worthy successor to the previous set of films. But whilst there are nods to the notion of the long dead Caesar, there is certainly no need to have seen those films to understand the concept of what he stood for, and there is clearly the anticipation that new audiences can come into it with fresh eyes; just know that in this dystopian world, 300 years on, the apes are in charge and the humans are an endangered species. There are certainly some areas where a suspension of disbelief on the human characters may well be required, and there are some nice, retro easter eggs, but it has much to say about the way we currently live in the world, which is not, at the moment, a particularly harmonious one, and it leans into even a level of quite chilling semi-religiosity. The effects are breathtaking, as we have come to expect, and the authentic and realistic representation means that the ability of the ape characters to engage the audience emotionally is beyond any doubt.

"Emergency" is a cinematic triumph that transcends political boundaries and stands as a true masterpiece. The direction is impeccable, with each scene meticulously crafted to evoke a range of emotions, from tension to empathy. The performances are nothing short of stellar. Kangana has successfully delivered powerful portrayal of Shree Indira Gandhi that bring depth and authenticity to the character. The screenplay is sharp and insightful, tackling complex themes with nuance and sensitivity. What sets "Emergency" apart is its ability to resonate on a universal level. It goes beyond the realm of politics to explore the human condition, making it a film that is both timely and timeless. The soundtrack complements the narrative beautifully, enhancing the overall impact of the film. "Emergency" is a must-watch for anyone who thinks its anti Congress and anti Indira Gandhi. It is a testament to the power of storytelling and a shining example of what the medium can achieve when executed with passion and precision.
