🍇 Is #sulfur successful to control #grapevine #downymildew? 👉 Read freely a new #research #article on #OENOOne: “Sulfur — a potential #additive to increase the #efficacy of #copper-based #fungicides against grapevine downy #mildew” to know more about the use of sulfur vs copper. Abstract:  🧐 Control of downy mildew on grapevines in #organic #viticulture in Europe is mainly based on using copper-based fungicides. However, the effect of these #agents is often insufficient to prevent losses when #infestation pressure is high. The addition of sulfur, which is primarily used to control powdery mildew, improves the effect of copper on downy mildew.  👉 In three out of five #trial years, sulfur had a clear positive effect when it was added during spray #treatments against #Plasmoparaviticola, the causal agent of downy mildew on grapevines. This was evident mainly in the fruits; no further positive effect on the leaves was evident.  👉 In addition, the present #study shows that copper-based fungicides are effective on #leaves but have a rather poor effect on grapevine #fruit. Ontario winery testing new green Canadian technology to fight age-old threat to grape crop: "The new system — developed and patented by St. Catharines, Ont., company Clean Works and being tested at Vineland Estates Winery, which grows 40 hectares of grapes — attacks the #fungus on the surface of the vine, unlike fungicides, which generally block the fungus from reproducing. The harvester moves over rows of vines and subjects them to three elements: hydrogen peroxide, ozone and UV-C light, which is a known disinfectant." https://lnkd.in/gpDD5ktT cbc #foodscience

Exploring a New recipe of Liquid culture and wish to share it with my fellow mycologists. For most of Mushroom growing fungus this recipe is super effective. In 200 ml of Distilled water add 4 ml of Honey, if honey isn't around one can use corn syrup as well. add 500 mg Malt extract powder add 400 mg Peptone mix well and sterilize for 30 min at 121.6 °C and 15 PSI. Be precise about the amount of the Malt extract or peptone, too much of these will make your liquid culture cloudy with lots of particulate material. So far I have tested it with Paddy straw mushroom, split gill mushroom, and lion's mane mushroom culture and all are growing very nicely with no contamination. With the month of #November of the #European #best #terpene #contest, we began to see a rise in quality of the flowers in the lab.🍁🥰🔥🥦 The throne was not yet taken, Ivan Novak and the Hempilook team still reign, but as predicted its not gonna be easy for the leaders to keep the crown.👑🥇 The HappyPousse team is following right on their tails, with Maxence Majot at the wheel, taking second place missing the kings throne by a mere 0.25% and a whisker at 2.86%.🇫🇷🥈✨🐱 We have to elaborate and complement, their sample does take first place for the most interesting profile due to determination of 12 of 74 possible teprenes in our analysis panel.😮📊 The #Caryophyllene was heavy on this sample, but the minor terpenes seem to make the experience much less peppery than one can make our just from the numbers. 🤔👃👁️2️⃣*️⃣8️⃣6️⃣ also some rare terpenes habe popped up like nerodiol and fenchol 💐🌺. The sample was vibrant and relaxing with definet resemblances to sweet honey and melted butter.🍯🧈🤤 A real treat for the chemoreceptors, not really able to pin a distinct smell of cannabis to it.💨👌👍 We also have to mention our Italian neigbours that took a significant part of our leader board placings, makin them heard as a contener for the title.🇮🇹🇮🇹💪💪 The wine producer countrys are taking the lead, and making way, for this competition to get as interesting as one could have only hoped for.🍷🍾 #January we close the 2023 results, again proving that outdoor cultivation is the best methodology for rare secondary metabolites production...
