Good Morning LinkedIn 😀 I’ve been very quiet on here recently… 🤫 why you ask? My main focus for the past 9/10 months has been passing my probation period and last week I finally got the answer I’ve been waiting for🙌 Working in the veterinary industry was always something I had dreamed of, so I applied for the role of veterinary receptionist at my local practice. 📝 My view of this role beforehand was the same as every other poor, unsuspecting receptionist; I’d answer the phone, book appointments and cuddle puppies and kittens all day. 😂🤷♀️ The worst that could happen is getting peed on! 🚽 I was so far off the mark 😂 I still have no idea how to explain to someone applying for a position of veterinary receptionist, what the job really involves. It is a position in which you have to learn as you go and every day I learn something new! 🆕 I soon realised that a veterinary receptionist is far more than ‘just a receptionist’. The job title will never do the actual job any justice. It’s harder than you think but the reward of seeing animals get better is worth every second. 🐶🐱❤️🩹 Veterinary receptionists are often the first and last face/voice that a client will interact with in the practice. 📞🗣️ My impact on the customer’s impression is so valuable. 🙏✅ I found myself being a natural communicator a confident engager and understanding the needs of both humans & animals. I am able to remain calm with clients that may become upset or angered, and be empathetic towards situations that will be difficult for pet owners. That aside no two days are the same 🐾 I wanted to be a Veterinary Receptionist because I love animals and enjoy getting to know every client… I believe that being the first point of contact in a veterinary clinic is crucial and I have learnt to contribute positively to the client's & animals .. I mean who wouldn’t want to stroke a cat or dog on a daily basis and give them treats. 🐾😂 I’m so glad I followed my dreams & worked my butt off to prove I was capable of doing this job I’m so excited for what the future holds. I guess anyone is capable of doing whatever they want when they put their mind to it 🤯 #veterinary #petindustry #receptionist #customersatisfaction #animallovers #workhard #frontofhouse

It's #veterinaryreceptionist week, so we want to take a moment to recognize these individuals' pivotal role in contributing to the optimal functioning of a veterinary practice! Pictured here is the amazing front desk team at Perry Hall Animal Hospital in Baltimore, MD . They have been a VetBilling partner hospital for 10 years! Perry Hall was one of the “early adopters” of VetBilling because of the alignment of values around #accesstocare . So what does a veterinary receptionist DO? The boring answer is that they answer phones 📞, greet clients, 👋 schedule appointments, 📆 and collect payment for services. 💵 But that falls far short of describing their superhero role! 🦸♀️ 🦸♂️ 🦸 Here's part of the actual job description: VETERINARY RECEPTIONIST, aka: Phone ninja. 🥷 📞 Client greeter. 🤝 Appointment scheduler extraordinaire. 📆 Poop-and-pee-cleaner-upper. 💩 Prescription label sticker-onner. 💊 Conflict resolution specialist. ☮️ ✌️ Foreign language interpreter ("I would like my puppy's distemper vaccine 'with no corona'" ?!? => true story!) 🤣🤣🤣 Financial negotiation guru. 💵 Fine line walker. 🤸♀️ Hurt feelings soother. 🤗 Animal comforter. 🐶 🐱 Practice management software wizard. 🧙♀️ 🧙♂️ 🧙 Text message manager. 🔔 Chaos surfer. 🏄♀️ 🏄♂️ 🏄 Carb-and-caffeine aficionado. 🍕 🍩 🍭 ☕️ 🍫 🍵 Pet-hair-on-everything modeler. 👖 👚 Composure maintainer. 😑 Printer paper refiller. 🖨️ 📑 Email maven. 📧 Inventory tracker. 📈 Versatility champion. 🏆 Now, we ask you, is "veterinary receptionist" even the right job title, or should it be "INDISPENSABLE SUPERHERO"??? 🦸♀️ 🦸♂️ 🦸 Have more stellar skills to add? Drop them in the comments below 👇 #vetbilling #veterinarian #vetclinic #vetteam #clientcare

Keyword Saturday – Flexible Non-Clinical work that’ll really stimulate your brain? It’s one of our most commonly asked questions – what can I do with my veterinary degree that’s non-clinical, remote, supports flexible working and still uses all my vet skills? You might not have considered Official Veterinarian work, but I’d encourage you to have a look. It’s surprisingly good work. Amivet Exports Ltd are looking for 2 vets to cover regional OV work and support their customers. It’s a very broad job, where an eye for detail, flexibility and willingness to travel are the main requirements. That gives huge scope for building a competency-based CV, so check out my view on how you might do that, the kind of skills you should be illustrating and a broader view of the role. Here to support pets & the amazing humans that care for them 🫶🏼° Veterinary Talent Acquisition Partner @ Encore Vet Group 🐾 ° Mom to Bestest Boi Lou🦴°
Happy Veterinary Receptionist Week! 💙 💛 🥳🎉🐾🩺 I love celebrating all of the veterinary humans that care for our furry, scaly, and feathered family members, but this week is especially close to my ♡, because if it weren't for my very first CSR role I wouldn't be part of this special industry today 🙏🏼. A boss of mine at a previous company denied my request to assist my PMs with recruiting efforts for the CSR roles in their hospitals. When I asked why, their reason: "those aren't the important roles, or the ones that generate revenue, you need to focus on the DVM and VT roles, those are what people care about." I swear, for a split moment, I saw red. But then, I took a deep breath, and felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude. I realized it was my experience as a CSR previously, that allowed me to be a better TA Partner today. I valued the instrumental role our CSRs play within our hospitals, because I could relate to them, because I had been one of them ♡. So, my response to my boss went something like this: The CSR role is the backbone of the hospital. If we don't support our PMs in hiring for the CSR roles, when they don't have the bandwidth, here's the domino effect that will take place: 🥁 🙆🏼♀️ No CSRs ➡️ The VAs will run for the phones, and won't be available for the VTs ➡️ The VTs will get frustrated they have no VAs to restrain for the fractious cat that needs a blood draw, because they're answering the phones ➡️ The DVMs will get frustrated with the VTs because the orders they put in aren't complete, because their VT has no one to hold off for them to draw the blood from the fractious cat ➡️ The client, waiting in room 4, will eventually reach their threshold in wait time for the results from the diagnostics they agreed to, and will ask the DVM for their kiddo back, and to pay ➡️ The client will walk out the door, the kiddo will get care at the competor hospital 6 miles away, and that frustrated client, may or may not take to Google to leave a damaging review of their negative experience at the hospital they just left. 🟰 Without CSRs, we don't have the roles you deem as "important", because there are no clients bringing their kiddos in to receive care, there's no revenue to be generated, which means, there's no team members to be paid. 🤷🏼♀️ To all of the CSRs at Encore Vet Group 💙 💛 🐾 and every other veterinary organization, you aren't less valuable than any other role, contrary, you are the back bone of the hospital, the glue for the rest of the team, the missing puzzle piece, and the first voice a client hears. You are EVERYTHING 🫶🏼, and I'm grateful for each and every one of you, for every call you've taken, vaccination record you've inputted, client you've calmed down, and kiddo you've given extra TLC to ♡. This week, is for all of you ♥️🐾🩺. THANK YOU 🫶🏼. #encorevetgroup #lovewhereyouwork #csr #veterinaryreceptionistweek #veterinarymedicine #appreciative #grateful #proud Encore Vet Group

Organizational Development & Change Management Consultant | Workplace Culture Specialist | Proven Business & Marketing Strategist
In-person shadowing or working interviews are a great time for veterinary professionals to assess a hospital's workplace culture. When you go on-site for an interview: - Observe how team members collaborate and discuss cases - Identify if the clinic holds regular team meetings, such as daily rounds or weekly all-team gatherings, to ensure a certain level of patient care and a cohesive medical standard - Observe how client education is approached (who, how much, which methods). These factors influence the standard of care and inform how you will be able to practice. - Take note of patient scheduling and volume of cases. How do they go about scheduling (appt times 30 min or 1 hr for example)? What are the support staff (reception/tech) to doctor ratios? There is no right or wrong answer, but these elements do influence how your work day. 💼 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐕𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 🐾 The veterinary field is both rewarding and demanding, with long hours, emotional challenges, and high expectations. At VetClinicJobs, we see firsthand the importance of clinics that prioritise the 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬—because caring for pets starts with caring for people. Here are some key areas where we’ve noticed a positive shift in improving quality of life: 1. 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤-𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞: Clinics are introducing more flexible hours, mental health days, and structured workloads to prevent burnout. Encouraging downtime leads to more focused, energised teams. 2. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Investing in professional growth doesn’t just improve veterinary care—it boosts job satisfaction and personal fulfilment. Clinics that offer CPD (continuing professional development) opportunities help their staff stay motivated and engaged. 3.
