What's the story? What if the stories we've been telling ourselves and others about our lives need revision, an edit? The theory of #narrative identity says who we are is formed by the stories we tell about ourselves. They serve an #existential purpose. But what if we are deluded about our own story? What if our stories are neither accurate nor believable, are we still us? And if they aren't, then who are we? I'm sure many of you are already thinking of people (and peoples - entire group or even national identities) who you think the above applies to, but be introspective and reflect on to what extent it may apply to you. What stories are we carrying - and can we transform them?

Such a positive message. We all have a story we tell ourselves when reliving our past or crafting our future. These stories are definitely worth editing. The most common story I hear my clients tell is that they "are just not creative". Everyone is creative. Creativity can take form in the way you dress, the way you speak to others, the way support your loved ones, or the way you problem solve. It is part of who you are and makes an appearance every day. Recognize it, embrace it, and start changing your story to include it!

Stories are the way we make sense of our lives. Depending on what we emphasize, minimize, what we leave in & leave out, what we see & want others to see, we tell our stories in a particular way. Life is about which stories to listen to & which ones need a courageous edit. It's worth the effort to go through a revision because there's nothing more important to the quality of our lives than the stories we tell ourselves about them!
